Well it's time for another great week of 2a games in the Commonwealth. I will be doing things a little different this week. It seems we have some new sensorship in reference to which rankings we can and cannot use on this site any more. Therefore, I will forgo the rankings of teams. You can check them out on the KHSAA side or wherever you want on your own. I think we have another great week, so without further ado, here we go:
1) McCracken County 6a @ Mayfield 2a
Here we have a game that has more than lived up to the billing the last two years. The only two meetings of these two have ended in 1 point wins by the home team. The last one even went into overtime. Both teams are built with speed and spread in mind. McCracken took the last meeting of these 2 in their new stadium by a score of 38-37 in overtime. McCracken then finished the season with a record of 9-2 and in the top 5 of 6a. Mayfield finished up last year with a record of 14-1 as the 1a state champs. The 2 seem to be having similar success again this year. McCracken got off to a slow start but has rebounded to a record of 2-1. Mayfield has rolled through the first part of their season and has a record of 3-0. On a side note, Mayfield has not lost a game at War Memorial since 2008. This should be a packed house and a great game.
2) Gallatin County 2a @ Ludlow 1a
Here we have what appears to be another great game between 2 very evenly matched teams. It is also a bit of a rivalry match. Both teams come in on the verge of cracking into the top ten of their respective classifications. Both teams come in with a record of 2-1. Both also finished with almost the same record last year. Gallatin finished up at 5-6. Ludlow finished up at 6-5 as a result of winning this matchup 29-28 last year. I think this should be another great one.
3) Danville 2a @ Corbin 3a
Here we have another great game between two very tradition rich teams that are currently very successful. This is also a revenge game as well. Both also had great records last year. Last year Corbin edged out Danville on the road by a score of 28-20. Danville went on to post a good record of 8-4 and showed they have rebounded. Corbin also finished up great last year with a record of 11-2, losing to the eventual state runners up in 3a on a close one. This year Danville comes in at 2-1, with a tough loss to a larger class power. Corbin comes in at 3-0. I think this will be a packed house and a great game.
4) Lexington Christian Academy 2a @ Estill County 3a
Here again we have a game between two teams that appear to be on the rise. This one as well is a bit of a revenge game. Last year LCA took this on at home by a score of 27-13. LCA finished up 2014 at 6-6. Estill finished up last year at 9-3. LCA comes into this one at 3-0 and Estill at 2-1. This too should be a great game.
5) Somerset 2a @ Hazard 1a
Another big game between 2 very tradition rich teams that have had a lot of recent success. While this game was a blowout for Hazard at 53-19 last year in a disappointing year for the Bunnies, this appears to be a totally different story this year. Somerset had the worst season ever last year coming out of it at 0-10, just to rebound the first week of this year. Hazard however, had another good year and finished up at 10-3. They both come in at 2-1, with both losing to other small school powers recently. I think this should be another packed house with a great showing between the two.
6) Betsy Lane 2a @ Maggofin County 3a
Here we have a game between 2 teams that are desperate for their first win. We have a game between two teams with pretty good records in 2014 and looking to get back to that type of winning. Betsy Lane finished up last year at 6-5. Maggofin finished up at 7-5. Both teams come into this one at 0-3. I look for both of these teams to fight tooth and nail for this victory.
7) Barren County 5a @ Monroe County 2a
Here we have a great game between two teams that finished up last year in a similar fashion and have started this year alike as well. This is also a revenge type matchup. Last year Barren took this one in a close one at home by a score of 20-17. Barren went on to a 4-7 record as a result. Monroe finished up at 2-9 last year. This year, both teams have racked up a 2-1 record thus far. I think this should be another great one to watch.
8) Hopkinsville 5a @ Murray 2a
Here we have another great game between 2 teams with some rich tradition of their own. We also have 2 teams that appear to have somewhat of a resurgence in the past few years. This is also a battle of Tigers. Hopkinsville finished up last year at 4-7, due to several forfeits for rules violations. Murray finished up last year in the semis with a record of 11-3. Both have plenty of speed and size on their roster as well. Hopkinsville comes into this one at 3-0. Murray comes in at 2-1 after a disappointing loss to a larger school last week. I think this should be another good one to watch to see just where these two teams rank.
9) Butler County 2a @ Apollo 5a
Here we have a good game between an upstart small school, which really appears to be on the rise, playing a larger school with tradition that had a rough go last season. Apollo had an unusual season last year as they finished up at 2-9. Butler finished a little better than they are accustomed to last year with a record of 7-4 and their hopes are a rising. Both teams enter this one with identical 2-1 records. I also think this one is a good one to watch to try and gauge these two programs.
10) Washington County 2a @ Thomas Nelson 3a
Here we have a game between two teams that finished up last year in similar fashion. We also have a revenge matchup of sorts. Washington took this one at home last year by a score of 27-7. They however finished up at 3-7 on the year. Thomas Nelson however finished at 5-5. They both come into this one with identical 1-2 records. I think this is another slobberknocker.
Well, there you go fellas. Read it over and let me know what you think. Let me know if you would like to see the AP polls, the BGR polls or no polls as well.

I would watch Owensboro Catholic playing South Spencer, Indiana. Always a great matchup and another test for the Aces.
Staying in the same district, Butler Co has averaged 7 wins the last 4 years but is stepping up in competition with this years schedule.
There has been a lot of talk in 2A about Somerset, this game gives them a great chance to show how legit they are.
Mayfield should roll vs. McCracken County

Mayfield is better this year. McCracken is not as good. Cardinals easy.

I can't wait for this matchup. My son can't either. He likes picks. He is a hybrid at lb and does more pass coverage. He actually got one against PT but so far all 3 teams we have played are predominately run teams. This is the first team that really likes to sling the ball.

64, I know you are still wanting to be a Cardinal. So, you should come to breakfasts here on Fridays.

He was close. If he was as fast as his dad it would have been no problem.

A father should never make fun of his son, and call him slow. The only time you can move fast is to cut in line at a buffett. On the game I feel like everyone is selling McCracken short. They may not be as good as last year, but I wonder if maybe they layed an egg against Tilghman. Best not take them likely just because PJ calls them well you know his trademark by now.

We still race all the time. I beat him to the table every single time.
