LSU 41 Kentucky 3
#1
This game was very hard to watch! IMO the Kentucky coaching staff didn't show up for this game! IMO college coaches sometimes get so caught up with the X's an O's of the game that they over look basic things that the common football fan knows! Call me crazy but IMO it is suicide to ever punt the ball to any LSU return guy! They are always loaded with speed and future NFL RBs, WRs and DBs! Why not punt the ball out of bounce?? Why get cute on the opening Kick-off? I also didn't care much for the play calling! Neal Brown has to learn that he is coaching in the SEC now and the short lateral passing game will seldom work! UK fans got their fill of the 3rd and 7 four yard pass, thanks to the JOKER! Teams like LSU have too much speed for it too work! I also thought it took Brown too long to figure out that the "Wildcat" was not going to work. Once in a while the Wildcat QB must give the ball to the man in motion on the sweep play or the fake becomes useless! LSU knew this! I though using the Wildcat on the 4th and 2 play was a bad play call! What I am most disappointed in is the lack of a MAX protection passing game! When you are down by over 30 you must THROW THE BALL down the field! The QB must have time to do this! Why not go 3 WRs a TE and the best pass protecting RB in the game?? Pat Towles showed a lot of heart and guts tonight! What did you guys think of this game?

I feel the same, our play calling has no change.Lsu defence was prepared for our plays.

Or maybe UK had not beaten very good teams and were not as good as people thought they were. Does anybody truly think ULM, Ohio, or UT-Martin got UK ready for this game? Yes, they played Florida tough and beat South Carolina, clearly those teams were not as good as advertised in the preseason.
Why could they not play some one like North Carolina, East Carolina, or Illinois in a home and home? All beatable teams that would give a challenge to get ready for conference play?

I've been saying all week that Kentucky's chance to go to a bowl will come down to winning the Louisville game. I don't think the others are winnable.

The Cats including the coaches came out totally intimidated by a struggling LSU team to begin with, gave a struggling offensive team 17 points right out of the gate!!! Really disappointing to say the least, then we finally start throwing down field and mount a drive and score and were on the verge of getting in the game when our play calling killed us on a huge drive and on 4th and 2 LSU did what a solid defense is supposed to do to the wildcat play (smashed it backwards) and these players and coaches played scared and stupid the rest of the game!! How can you explain the mindboggling STUPIDITY on the LSU kickoff with .44 left in the half??? Then pretty much laid down the entire 2nd half and let a rebuilding LSU team stomp their asses in the ground........IMO it will take a monumental effort for this team to get another win this year considering they will be underdogs in each remaining game! I have tried to believe Towles was a quality SEC QB but I just can't buy it, he had some opportunities to make a difference last night and couldn't make the throws at critical times in the first half! His accuracy is just too inconsistent to be SEC legit IMO..........

Stoops tanked the game vs LSU because he wants to be in the running for the LSU job when/if Miles leaves for Michigan.

I agree with everything that you said with the exception of your comments about Towles. I thought Towles was the only guy on offense that wasn't scared! The Kentucky WRs were terrible last night. Timmons had a easy TD catch if he gets his head around and looks for the ball. A major weakness for the UK offense is a total lack of production from the TE's. Sting's son should went with wrestling also. He has only been good at holding or dropping passes! I have just about had my fill of Neal Brown! He can call his system the "air raid" system all he want but it is nothing like Hal Mumme's system.

OR maybe there exactly who we thought theyd be.
I don't think anyone picked them to win 6 games to start the year...

I didnt think 6 was a hard pick. UT Martin, Ohio, and ULM are 3 out of conference wins. UK had to be the favorite at home against Vandy. Thats 4. I was giving them Louisville. Thats 5. Then u have South Carolina at home which I thought was winable and Miss St at home, which looked like a possible (I think it still is) at the start of the year. Then, there is Tenn, which was, and is, winable. Just out of these, I didnt think 6 was out of the question and we didnt even mention Missouri on the road, which is a possible. I had them picked 7-5 but I have been picking them for over 40 years and I havent been right yet, LOL!! I think several of those 7 were picked with my heart instead of my head.

I think we beat Mizzou and Lville and finish 7-5

We will get killed against Miss St. and Georgia. Tennessee is a toss up but its in Knoxville.

I think we finish 7-5. Mizzou and Lville being our last two wins.

North Carolina is no better than the teams UK beat. Cats laid a big egg yesterday. Young kids got lost in the moment.

I dont know now... I just don't know.

who would have though we would be 5-2 at this point in the season this team has exceeded my expectations for the year and i would love for us to go bowling this season. the growth and progress is there and if you cant see it then you are blind. The SEC West is unreal this year and have beat the east in every game but one, The Cats will be fine and I think we can steal one or two more wins this season.

I agree with you on all points, I just had maybe a little too high expectations for the LSU game. Having said that I do believe we played intimidated and not smart on all levels including coaches. I realize this group is young, but talented and hopefully will mature into the kind of group that will not play and coach scared and foolish the next few trips into hostile SEC territory.

UK football does that to you....they cause u to build up the expectations and then pull the rug from under u, LOL. I have been a 50 yr fan so I try not to get to pumped up about any game because Ky will break your heart. I do think significant progress has been made this year and I have high hopes (not expectations, LOL) for the future!

I could not have said it better. I guess us old folks have had our hearts ripped out more than a few times. That was one reason i didn't believe this team would go to a bowl this year. I believe we beat Louisville to go. But that's probably it. I let the South Carolina game fool me in to thinking we was better than we are. Stoops has made significant improvements but we are two years from having a chance to win any time we step on the field. My neighbor begged me to go to the game with him Saturday night and I would not go. His car has made it back but he has not left the house that I can tell, and he has not returned any calls. LOL

Haha, good post!! I think LSU is a whole lot better than they were given credit for prior to the UK game. I challenge ANY team in the country to roll into Baton Rouge on a Sat night and see how you come out! A lot of the SEC venues are extremely tough to play in. Knoxville on a Sat night is never pleasant! See how u come out if u are playing "between the hedges" on any given Sat. Those are just some examples of the SEC venues...there are a lot more. Heck, they even get cranked up at Commonwealth every now and then. My point is that there is nothing easy in the SEC. Vandy has even knocked some people off in the last few years.

I think if UK has a respectable game against Miss St., they'll beat Mizzu, UL and UT. If they tank like they did last week...it could be an ugly remainder of the season.
