Belfry/Prestonsburg 1986 Highlights
#1

Prestonsburg rolls into Vipperman and hangs around a while before being thumped at the end. Pirates led by Dwayne Francisco, Mike Scott, Keith May, Doug Webb, and some other talented all state players like Keith Marcum.

Don't hate , appreciate , the program is not in the past considering we are the 2013 AAA champs. :HitWall:

Wasn't Dwayne Francisco long gone by 1986? Thought he was QB in the finals against Paducah Tilghman several years earlier.

Living in the past? I wasn't born until 1993... I make these videos mostly of games that I wasn't even thought about for. I've been raised hearing about these teams and I know I ain't the only one.

Actually, the Paducah Tilghman vs Belfry state title game was in 1985, this game was in 1986. We played Owensboro in the state finals in 86.

Maybe you're thinking of 79, when we played Franklin Simpson. Dwayne wasn't around then though.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

any Pikeville or belfry ppl have any videos of Prestonsburg in 97 or 96?
#8
Belfry beat us my senior year 14-6 to end our dominance back in the 80's. I believe it was tight up until the 4th. Francisco completed a pass to Gilliam for a score and Bruce Johnson had the other.

I don't but I could get the Pburg/Belfry game from either of those seasons, assuming they played?

Nice video, I love the old school stuff like this, keep sending them, but I will say if you had the 1985 Belfry, Prestonsburg game. The results would have been different, Belfry got beat by the Blackcats that year.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. I had 4 games from the 85/86 season given to me by someone to watch, I didn't choose them. As I said, these seasons were almost 10 years before I was born.

15-13 on a controversial field goal. Intense game

VERY intense game. I was a senior on that Prestonsburg team. All of us seniors had played 2 years for Coach Haywood prior to his leaving for Belfry. Both defenses stood out. Interesting because we both ran the same offense AND defense.

Plug for Coach Haywood here: Even to this day, whenever I see him, we have the best conversations. Classy man. To this day I still tell my sons stories.

I only have 2 games of 89 and I made a highlight of one of those! You'll have to let me borrow some games

89 team was a great team, If I was ranking Belfry teams from the 80s they would be third behind 86, 85 then 89. Good team that hit there stride against Pikeville and never looked back until semifinals.

I've watched 2 games a piece of each of those teams, and I'm not so sure I could pick. If I had to go with my gut I'd actually lean towards 89, but I'm not sure.
