Meade Memorial in Johnson County...
Yes, it is an elem. school now.... But I think it was built in the 1920's. My great-grandfather helped build it back in he day.
Meade Memorial consolidated into Johnson Central in 1968.

^ Still one of the coolest gyms to go into IMO. Takes you back to yesteryear for sure.

I don't know the age of Somerset's gum but it is very old. Was remodeled a few years back but the substance of an old gym remained.

Clay County's old gym, now the middle school gym, was a great place to watch a game. Unless you were the visiting team.

I'd guess the Oneida Baptist gym is the oldest active gym in the 13th.
The Evarts gym was probably the oldest before the school closed in 2008.
Memorial Gym in Hazard is probably the oldest in the 14th.

I've played a lot of basketball in the old wayland gym and the old Carr creek high school. Both are really old.

1927 for the old Carr Creek gym,, and 1941 for the old Wayland gym. Both still have their gyms open to play in. If ever in the area,, are both storied gyms to see. 1956 state champs for the Carr Creek gym. Only state championship for any Knott Co team,, until this year

Crap,,, I forgot about old Hindman high school. Built in 1930 I believe. Won state championship in 1943. So Knott has 2 state championships. That old gym still is open. Hosts a lot of grade school games now.

I remember reading in the paper not long ago that the Somerset High School gym was built around 1932. It is still being used for varsity games.
