OWENSBORO, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College quarterback Branden Cresap threw for 303 yards and tied his own program-record with five touchdown tosses to help the Blue Raiders to a 39-20 win over Kentucky Wesleyan College tonight at Steele Stadium.
Matt Powers and Chris Dobbins hauled in two touchdown scores each as the Blue Raiders improved to 3-0 on the season. Defensively, Michael Brooks picked off a pair of passes to help Lindsey Wilson finish the game with three takeaways compared to no turnovers on offense.
After forcing the Panthers into a three-and-out to open the game, Cresap hit Powers for a 59-yard touchdown down the right sideline to take a 6-0 lead.
Kentucky Wesleyan (0-2) scored two possessions later as Dalton Oliver found Keelan Cole on a slant from three yards out to tie the game a 6-6. Nathan Ballinger added the extra point for what would be the Panthers only lead of the game.
On its first possession of the second quarter, Lindsey Wilson used 10 plays to march 89 yards to regain the lead.
Beginning the drive deep in Lindsey Wilson territory, Rome Cotton scampered 53 yards to ignite the Blue Raider scoring drive. A pair of fourth down conversions -- including a fourth-and-goal from the three-yard line -- enabled the Blue Raiders to take the lead for good at 13-7. Cresap found Dobbins on a screen pass and the senior wide-out did the rest for his second touchdown of the season.
Cresap and company didn't have to wait long to get another chance as the Lindsey Wilson defensive unit forced its second three-and-out of the game just shy of midway through the second quarter.
Once again, the offense took advantage with a seven-play, 51-yard drive that took less than two minutes to give the Blue Raiders a 20-7 lead. Cresap used four receivers during the drive culminating with a 10-yard touchdown strike to Dobbins -- who ended the game with a team-high six catches totaling 51 yards.
The touchdown pass was Cresap's program-record 50th of his career.
Oliver cut the deficit to 20-14 on the next Panther drive as he connected with Jeff Ward for a 14-yard score. Oliver finished the game 27-of-48 for 303 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Ward caught 14 passes for 142 yards and the one score.
With 4:06 left in the half, Lindsey Wilson used a pair of big plays to build its lead back to 13 points (27-14).
A personal foul penalty on Kentucky Wesleyan during a punt attempt extended the Lindsey Wilson drive. Cresap and Powers made the Panthers pay with a 32-yard touchdown with just over a minute left in the half. Powers -- who caught his 19th and 20th touchdowns of his career tonight -- finished with two catches and a team-high 91 yards.
The Panthers had a chance to score just before half, but Sam Mapa stopped Oliver one yard shy of the endzone as time expired in the first half.
Lindsey Wilson extended its lead late in the third quarter as Cresap found a streaking Tavis Elzy down the left sideline for a 32-yard touchdown and a 34-14 lead.
Cresap finished the game 20-for-41 and five scores -- matching his single-game record five touchdowns passes set during the 2011 season.

Those are all the stats I could find on the Lindsey Wilson website.
LWC obviously has a pipeline from Shelbyville and it wouldn't surprise me to see a couple more kids from Shelby County end up there next fall.
