Talking about the Rams offense and defense!
Defensive line play looked good. Offensive line weak. Lot of mistakes.

Yes Raceland had some mistakes but everyone has mistakes early in the season. Give East Carter some credit too, they played hard and competed the entire game. Raceland did a lot of good things tonight. First W of many this season for the Orange and Black. Great job Rams coaches and players!

It was a very ugly 40-14 victory for the Rams. The defense was solid but the offense just could not get into sync. It seemed like Raceland came into this game expecting East Carter to lay down and not play hard simply because they are Raceland that was not the case tonight. I will give East Carter credit they played hard the whole game but didn't have the horses to keep up with Raceland. If Raceland give the kind of effort I saw tonight against Ashland they will leave Putnam Stadium with a very humbling loss.

It's hard to look good when playing a team in the rebuilding phase. The team really was playing just a few simple plays and keeping the play book held back tonight. A lot of Eagle fans and other future foe in the stands tonight. We will be fine. The O line will be good, really impressed with the big freashman and Johnson and risner had some outstanding blocks.

That just might be the creepiest avatar I have ever seen!

I know I will get a pounding for this from the Pikeville, Hazard and Williamsburg people but here we go. After last season and knowing what the Rams return this year I have said all year(not on BGR but to myself) that Raceland could be the best 1a team in the east this year.........if they can get those heads screwed on right. I also think that a lot of people were giving up on Fairview just because they lost those good backs but I think they will be much better then what people think and could be #1 again. So I said it now let me have it

Already making excuses.
08-25-2013, 12:39 AM
Agreed. Tired of the same old same old. Didnt play well bc a lack of showing too much, hard to be up for a game like this. No, no excuses from this Ram fan. Happy with the win? Yes. But let ur starters go out there, knock them in the mouth, get up by a few scores and then let the young guys get some pt. i coukd care less about big plays. Work on getting substainable drives with some ball control. There is no excuse for this years oline not to be able to get the backs into the endzone in four plays inside the 10 yd line. CAPITALIZE. If they come out against Ashkand like that the will be leaving with a devistating loss im affraid.

Easy fellas, first game always has its ups and downs.. Just ask NewCath, the defending 2A state champs that's had 4 turnovers last night against the Tomcats.. First game or two, things aren't always polished. With that being said, Raceland didn't dominate up front as much as I thought they would but I have confidence that this experienced offensive line will get better each week. Raceland made more than enough plays to win this one and win they did. Now time to focus on the Tcats.

And no excuses Fball, Rams got it done, 40-14.

40-14 is a pretty good win.

The Ram Offense wasn't in sync, but hopefully before Friday they will get the kinks ironed out. Have to give credit to East Carter as well, with the schemes and stunts they were running caused some of those problems.
Thought the defense played well, and will have to play well again in order to win at Ashland.
The Rams will get it together.

40 points when the offense isn't in synch makes you wonder how good they will be when they hit on all cylinders.
08-25-2013, 12:15 PM
I agree that scoring 40 points is great but they didn't seem to play with much of a spark last night. They reminded me a lot of past teams that seem to just go through the motions. As I said earlier the defense was great and I am not worried about them stopping teams. My biggest concern is whether or not they will have a killer instinct to put away good teams when they need to. Last night they let East hang around for too long before they eventually wore them down and really started putting points on the board. No disrespect to East but based on the talent difference between the two teams Raceland should have had at least 35 points by halftime and the starters should have rested most of the secon half. If Raceland doesn't play with a solid peel of intensity against a good team then they will be just like teams from the past that do not live up to their potential.

Why won't Sammons call the occasional slant? It was open all night. How bout a fade route or two? Again, it was open all night.

He's saving it. Don't want to reveal to much you know.

The slant has been open for the last three seasons. But elkins is more of a bootleg passer so it closes up rather quickly. Pettery, Grizzle, and Boyles used the Bubble screen and quick slant to the slot very successfully, but they were all more pocket passers. I honestly believe that Grizzle should be given a shot at OC.

No excuses! They played like crap the first half for sure and a Good team would have killed them. Mike Sammons needs to call a play and go with it or give Adam the right to change it instead of taking to long to run a series! The O line is waiting forever trying to figure what play they need to block for and it takes to long. As for the pic, it's my wedding pic and the best one I have of myself! The slant is always open, why we don't use it who knows.

Did the defense score all of the points

The offensive line needs to become familiar with some old tools of the trade. You know, a seven man sled, blocking chute and some old fashion board drills.
08-25-2013, 03:33 PM
Obviously the offense was able to score point but most ofte points came off of big plays instead of long sustained drives. They will not be able to depend on winning games against quality opponents if they cannot put together long scoring drives.
