This is a tragedy and my condolences go out to the family and teammates of this kid. If this was spearing, then it was a tragic loss of life. If this was a correct form tackle, and there was no pre-existing medical condition that contributed to the fatality of the injury, I would expect that critics of high school football will be emboldened and renew attacks on the sport.
