Hearing that promising incoming freshman Floyd Fannin's parents are moving out of state. If true wish nothing but the best for the young man in his future. He will be missed I'm sure by the Warriors.

Stinks for you all. Was he projected to have an impact as a freshman?

He was MVP for the east defense at the Eastbay 8th grade allstar game in TX..Pretty sure he would have seen some PT.. How much, who knows for sure...

I hate that he is leaving, but I wish him the best of luck. He has the potential to be a special player wherever he goes.

He is not the only freshman to be leaving.. Several more off that team are going to other schools.. They don't want to play for pee-wee coaches any more and who could blame them...

If he does leave, that will be a big loss for the Warriors.

He is a great athlete and player. He dominated the DE position in the All Star games.

Didn't want to let this thread die, so.... I had heard the same rumor, just curious to see if it is true that Southern parents have realized the train wreck that awaits, or is this false propaganda.

Floyd was a good kid from what we could tell. Our son spent a lot of time on the Ky team with him and then at the all american game. Going to be tuff to replace him.

Hopefully, SWHS can regroup and recover from the devastating loss of an incoming freshman who has never played a snap of varsity football.
Good luck, Warriors!

That's pretty rough losing an All-State player. What ever school he goes to is getting a gem!

As a district foe, I hate they are losing kids. However, after Coach Stephens remarks about the MS v SW game last year, I find it funny and don't feel sorry for him.

he had absolutely nothing to do with that teams success, well i guess he did plan the team meals. anyway, he made not one coaching decision that year, other than to not do much of anything. so i stick by my statement.

Just because you're not with the program anymore doesn't mean that you have to sit there and down Coach Stephens and team.

not downing anyone, just stating facts. wasn't trying to be negative, thought everyone would like to know the truth. guess i was wrong, in your case at least. i suppose you are right though, i will just let it go. i have to ask though, when and how did you become such a AS fan. just to clear one thing up for sure, i have never, nor will i ever, say anything negative about the kids or team as a whole. i am sure they are doing the very best with the situation they have been put in.

Warrior Grandpa.......
Yes Floyd has left, we had to move due to my job. We did not move because of coaches. Floyd misses them dearly along with all his friends. Floyd plays the game for the love of the game, and the coaches inspired him not to forget that. I appreciate all the effort they put into all their players, Floyd wasn't special, he was one of many of whom they treated special.....it takes a community to raise a child, and that is a great community. Everyone will be greatly missed. I have a great friend that coaches at southwestern and he has these kids best interest in his heart. Coach New, he invests every waking hour in these kids character.... To me that is the best kind of coach, cause in the end these boys will be sitting around at our age chatting on some thread; and I want people in his life that will help him with the growth of his character.
