Corbin struggles hitting against pretty good to good pitching.

Corbin doesnt hit the ball nor do they field it that well either......I guess the bright side is they are young and will improve.

What has happened to all the upperclassmen that played baseball at Corbin?

Alex Sears had a great game tonight for South with a triple of the right field fence and a bases clearing double. He also made some outstanding defensive gems. Then to top it off he came in the 7th inning and sent the hounds down 1-2-3 to close out the win for South Laurel. Zach Allen went the first 4 to get the win allowing 1 run. Quinton Barnett pitched a scoreless 5th and 6th. Trey Martin continued his good hitting tonight as well.

Corbin did have a problem of kids losing interest during middle school, which I have been told is not happening nearly as much now.

The reason the Corbin kids lose interest in middle school is because they wont even let the 6th graders tryout, and they just concentrate on another sport and never come back to baseball. You can't force kids to take a year off of baseball and then expect them to return as 7th graders as sharp as they was before. They get frustrated and end up quitting all together. They have a lot of 6th graders right now that would have beat out almost any of their 7th graders right now. I hear of at least 4 good players that have quit baseball at Corbin this year because of this.

Also, a couple of starters from last year decided not to play due to not liking a coach or two. Another senior starter is not currently with the team. I'm not sure why Terry is not playing in the field either.

Seems to be a big problem with the football and baseball teams.
Maybe its time to move on...
