HA HA HA, 1 game does not make a season. Hazard beat Woodford Co. and they remained #1 in the state. My understanding is YES Hazards seniors was there but, Hazard had NO hits and NO runs!

Hazard just didn't hit the ball. They just don't seem to try to adjust at the plate or think about the at bat, the pitcher, the count, the situation, very few act as if they are thinking at all. They go up and hack at the ball if it works great, if not the next time they just walk up and do the same thing again. They have had several hitters on fire early in the season and most of them are starting to balance back out to what you might expect. I personally don't think they hit enough or get enough help when hitting. Hitting is repetition, and muscle memory. The kids never take BP or hit on a field. Nobody want to throw BP to them. They never hit before an away game, very seldom hit before home games. Lets face it, with the win over Woodford, and being ranked the dawgs are going to see better pitching. The pros, colleges, the top high-school programs all take some kind of BP as close to game time as they can. Even on the road. If it is hitting whiffle balls or soft tossing into a small pop up net it gets a batter more prepared. Without that they can't even really get their bodies loose and warmed up to hit. A hitter might average 3-4 at bats a game, if you are lucky you might get 6 hittable balls. Watch anyone hitting and taking BP. How many of them square up, make solid contact, and hit their first six balls. Most of them don't get warmed up until they have hit 2-3 dozen balls. Yes, it takes a little more work, yes a coach might have to throw some but it's a fact that I doubt anyone would try to argue.
Not giving an excuse for loosing to North at all. North played well and is a very solid team. This post probably should have been in a new thread.

The seniors are leaving today on their senior trip. They must have had the cruise on their minds instead of baseball. It will be an interesting game in a couple of weeks when they play at Hazard.

As good as Hazard is doesn't sound like BP is needed, maybe if score was 2-0 or 1-0 and maybe 3-0 but final score was 9-0. This tells me pitching and defense are responsible for this loss. Everyone knows if you score 20 runs a game and the other scores 21, it was all in vain. More time by all teams need to be spent on pitching and defense!

And you don't win too many games when you score zero, either. Hurley and Carson were both very sharp for North, but I know Hazard has faced at least some pitching of that caliber this year. For whatever reason, they were not ready to play and it cost them a spanking. On the flip side, North looks like they are beginning to take the shape of a real contender in the 13th.

Hazard can't blame the coaches/BP on this loss. One thing I have learned from being a Bulldog myself and from watching Hazard for the last 15 years that if you want to beat Hazard in any sport just play them before any scheduled school event such as class trips. Hazard players seem to always be more interested in what going on after the game then the game its self. Not taking anything away from North Laurel tho.
I didn't see Hazard parents giving coaches credit for the Woodford win but like always the first time something goes wrong we throw the coaches under the bus.

I am a Bulldog thru and thru,, but if you did not know Hazard is undefeated in every sport since 1986 (year Hazard lost to PRP),,, they never lose,,, they either get CHEATED or the Coach got them beat,,, its never the other team is better or our kids just did not play good,, its always somebody else fault,,, that has got really old. You can lose by 40 in football or basketball and you hear the same stuff "refs were horrible" or so and so coach "is terrible"
The school trip thing has gotten way out of hand also,, taking the Juniors the week of the state semi-finals in football the last couple of years is dumb as hell

The score was 0-0 after 4 innings. North got 2 in the 5th. Like I said not sure the post I made needed in this thread but from 1 to 9 with the right lineup I would put Hazard's Defense and depth of pitching up against anybody. The BP and hitting comments were spawned over the last week or so. The game is mental, emotional and swings on momentum. With that being said when the Hazard kids are hitting they seem to get quicker jumps, have faster feet, and get to a lot more balls on defense than when they struggle at the plate they don't get to. Against Woodford Conley pitched great game, but every out wasn't a strikeout. and through 5 innings against North both those teams hit the ball hard and Hazard made play after play. Hazard had 5-6 double plays in those two games and ran down and caught a bunch of line drive fly balls in the outfield. In my opinion Hazard's D and pitching are the backbone of the team and the coaches do an outstanding job working with those kids. They have filled in some holes, developed a couple kids for some key positions and have the puzzle pieces together. The numbers can look deceiving because of a lot of the teams they have to play and the pitching they face. To me BP, and tweaking the kids swing, needs to be a DAILY exercise. If its raining, hit inside. If its not raining, hit on the field. Hazard's issue to me is they very seldom hit, if they hit at all. And for all that BP to pay off to its full potential a team needs to hit right before game time. Hitting is as important as throwing before a game to get loose and warmed up.

I don't know why everyone's getting their panties in a wad..Hazard is a very solid baseball team...18W-5L. I think the team is doing well and the coaches are doing the best they can. There's things I would change if I was the coach, but I don't know each player like the coaches do, so who am I to second guess them. Let's just all cool down, and support the whole team which includes everyone.....I want to see them play at Whitaker Park on May 3 and June 3....

To Fletch,
I don't really see anywhere in my post where I said we were CHEATED, actually gave props to a very solid NL team. And again I will say my initial post should have probably been in another thread. Just stating my opinion on why I feel Hazard struggles more than they should against decent pitching.
