Boggs pitched solid, Bond pitched very well, Logan Mallory pitched very well, HC had better luck against the Thompson kid. With the exception of some really bad base running by HC (4 baserunners thrown out) the game was a well played game! Down 4-2 going to b7, HC loaded the bases with a base hit, hit batsman and a walk with no outs, then after a strikeout Scotty Bailey hit a swinging bunt single that led to a throwing error over the first basemans head that allowed the final 2 runs to score! Nice come from behind win for the Black Bears!

There was a play in this game that I have never seen before and may never see again. Harlan Co. had I believe the bases (may have been first and second) in one of the middle innings. Batter hits a sharp single to left, throw from outfield is cut off with one run scoring. Batter rounds first too far, gets caught in a rundown that ends up with Carson, the North centerfielder, making the tag at first base. He then throws to third, because the runner there has drifted off the bag. It looked like North had guys run onto the field from the dugout, because they had so many guys lined up to run the pickle. By the time it ended, the runner was tagged out between third and home----by Carson, the centerfielder!!! Two putouts in the infield on one play---by the centerfielder!!! Just crazy.
As for the game, having seen South play now, both these teams could absolutely beat them in a one-game situation come tournament time. South probably wins a best-of-seven, but that's not the way it works of course. With Corbin off to a surprisingly strong start, and Clay Co., Knox Central and Middlesboro looking that they could all be dangerous in a one-game spot, it looks like the region could get very interesting, and not just be a coronation for South.

I have to agree never seen a play like that and probably never see it again well hopefully not with us anyway. The game was well played just a few base running eras by HC. I think this week will tell alot about HC with playing Corbin Tues, Knox Friday and Clay Saturday.

Wow, that is a big week if the weather would cooperate. I had seen the Harlan Co. football and basketball and basketball facilities, first time seeing the baseball-softball layout, just a tremendous setup, with six tennis courts as well. The money they spent on athletics there, they did it up right.
Also very impressed with the Harlan Co. kids. They celebrated, which any team would do after a finish like that, but they were never jerks at any time before, during, or after the game. Can't necessarily say that about every stop in the region.
