RICHMOND, Ky. â Eastern Kentucky University head football coach Dean Hood announced today that 17 student-athletes will join the Colonel program beginning this spring and next fall. The focus of the 2013 class was on defense as 10 of the 17 signees are expected to play on that side of the ball.
The class includes six defensive linemen, two linebackers, two defensive backs, two offensive linemen, two tight ends, one wide receiver, one running back and one quarterback. The 2013 signing class comes from five states featuring nine players from the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Colonel fans are invited to Gillumâs Sports Lounge in the Richmond Mall for lunch tomorrow, Feb. 7 to listen to Hoodâs thoughts on the 2013 signing class. The luncheon is scheduled to start at noon and will also include video highlights of all of the signees.
Eastern Kentucky is slated to return 12 of 22 starters (six on offense, six on defense) in 2013 including five all-conference players. EKU kicks off the 2013 schedule with a Thursday night home opener against Robert Morris on Aug. 29.
Easternâs spring football game is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 at Roy Kidd Stadium beginning at 4 p.m.
Fans can reserve 2013 season tickets by contacting the EKU athletics ticket office at 859-622-2122.
