Hazard 76 Prestonsburg 27
#1
Final from Memorial Gym.

Congrats Bulldogs!

Ouch tough loss.
Really though Hazard is just that good, not that Pburg is that bad.
#3
Hazard has really locked some teams down on D this year. They are very stingy.
#4
Wow. Congrats Bulldogs. Can't wait to see what happens when they play knott county.
#5

Congrats Dawgs.

Congrats Dawgs!!

Get back to work Blackcats. Plenty of games left to play.

OUCh! Can't say I'm suprised but to hold them to 27 is crazy. Frasure has been getting that almost every game himself.

Prestonsburg needs a basketball minded coach. Jack Pack was basketball minded, but he had such a rift with the football coaches that he almost refused to let football players play basketball.

In order for Prestonsburg to be successful, they need a coach who knows basketball but can also work with the football coaches to make sure both sports succeed. Many other schools have successful basketball AND football programs (Hazard as an example), so why can't Prestonsburg? They have let the DeRossett's take over and that's most of the problem in my opinion. And I have no beef with the DeRossett's as they are great people, but Prestonsburg needs someone to come in and take over for basketball that actually knows something about the sport.

Absolutely correct. Both programs can succeed but the higher level management has to be even handed with both sports. Cannot let one sport rule the other. The community has to back this for it to happen. No dog in this fight but this happens a lot. That's why Bear Bryant left Kentucky for Alabama years ago. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

Jack Pack is a really good basketball mind. He won a lot of games. He had some great teams at Prestonsburg and Wheelwright Highs. It is a shame that such a rift developed between the basketball and football teams when he was coaching at Pburg. I don't know any of the details of what happened between Pack and the DeRossett's but it was obvious there was a problem. (I'm sure somebody will blast me for saying that) Prestonsburg has had the most resources and deepest pool of athletes in the 58th district for close to 20yrs. Outside of a really good, all be it small run in basketball when Pack first got to Pburg the basketball team has always seemed to underachieve. I think that there is no reason why Prestonsburg shouldn't be at the top of the 58th each year. Too much talent. If the rift between basketball and football is no longer there it makes you wonder. Just sayin! However, is not James DeRossett's wife the ASST Principal at Pburg? I'm not for sure but if so it might be hard to get a change. As always just the opinion of an outsider looking in.

^ I can agree with you to an extent. Jack Pack had some very talented teams. IMO they always underachieved. To me that says it was a lack of coaching from Pack.

I'm not praising James. He has not been in the position long enough to make a fair evaluation. This years starting 5 are very talented, but we have no bench. There a huge drop off when we have to sub. Time will tell if he is capable of the job or not.
