Highlands 2013
#1
Anyone know what the 'Birds schedule is looking like this year?
This past year it didnt really change at all.
#2
From another thread (http://www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/sho...p?t=144303)

sstack Wrote:Here is the schedule as I was told, I guess with Pendleton going independent that our district goes to 4 teams(HHS,CCH,Holmes,Harrison);

Boyle away
Campbell Home
Bryan Station Home
John Hardin away Sat
Paducah Tighlman away Sat
Cov Cath away
Harrison home
Bye
Holmes home
Elder away
Ryle home

I think HHS fans are going to really like this schedule better than the last couple of years, although there is two straight weeks of long travel.

The one thing that has changed is that Ryle has dropped Highlands so we will not see them. Any updates sstack or others?

still scrimmaging Trinity?
I thought this would be a good year to play them. Birds return a lot. T loses a few superstars.
#4
The story about a month ago was that Ryle was not playing Highlands next year. Are they back on now?

No, see my comment in the second post. sstack posted this schedule BEFORE the Ryle game (posted on 10/2/12, Ryle game on 10/26/12) and their decision to drop Highlands.
#6
It won't matter next year. Highlands will steamroll everyone. This is one of those classes that make Dale smile a little wider than normal. This schedule is actually tougher than last year's, as I think "Bye" would have beaten Ryle next year anyway.

I'm almost certain that Warren Central filled the Ryle spot. It would be a home game.

I was told the other night that Boyle, and Highlands won't be playing each other this coming year.Boyle will open in Lincoln's bowl game, and play Warren central the second game of the season.

That's new news to me. Did you hear that from a reliable person (i.e. French)? To the best of my knowledge, Boyle is still playing Highlands. Hope they don't bail on us the way Ryle did.

This is correct. Warren Central could not find a game for the last week of the year and worked this out after Ryle dropped them.

Central hasn't lost to anyone other than Bowling Green in two years, but they've got some losses coming their way next year.

Numbering the weeks of the season could be the cause of confusion.

Week 0 = Highlands
Week 1 = Lincoln County's Bowl
Week 2 = Warren Central

Just an idea. Yes, I know that the Death Valley Bowl at Lincoln Co was in week 0 in 2012, but changing the week of the bowl is a possibility. There is also the possibility that he meant that Lincoln Co plays Boyle in the Bob Allen Bowl in Danville in week 1.

I guess we will just have to wait for the official schedule to come out to be sure.

I was told that Boyle had dropped both Highlands, and John Hardin.from the schedule no mistake about it,and i would say knowing the source he's about %99.9 accurete.

That would make no sense to drop either of those schools! Who would they replace them with? Boyle needs to be playing top competition and not running from it. I will lose a lot of respect if this is true or if they do not have a really good reason.
#15
If i'm not mistaken they've been replaced with Bourbon, and Warren central.by the way stack i'm sure no one in Boyle co.cares if they have your respect or not.
#16
So Boyle is nothing but a chicken outfit or the annual bludgeoning Highlands put on them to start the season was destroying their confidence. Which is it? Bottom line, Boyle knows they don't belong on a football field with Highlands. Im sure they remember what next years highlands seniors did to them as freshmen.

I am at a bit of a loss to how either side gets any benefit out of the Tilghman game. I know what Tilghman will get and it's not a benefit. Seems FTH could find someone to play that's not flanked by cypress swamps 320 miles away. Tilghman ought to be wondering why it can't beat Mayfield before trying to bark with the big dawgs or chip with the big birds as it may be.
#18
Boyle's does not want to play Highlands and John Hardin? Instead will play Bourbon Co. and Warren Central? Talking about padding your wins. Play Highlands, Cov Cath, Saint X, Trinirty, play Cincinnati schools.
#19
Guys let's keep it cool. We had several other threads that were moved because of the same comments so let's keep it clean.
#20
Louisville Trinity plays a national schedule. I'd like to see FTH do a little more of that. As long as they play their district games, like Trinity, they would qualify for the playoffs. Also, adding a few really top teams- Cincinnati has several- would pay dividends.
#21
I did not see confirmation of the scrimmage with Trinity. Are the Birds going to pay a pre-season visit to St. Matthews?

What, Elder's no good? They usually play a GCL power every year.

They need to keep the Trinity scrimmage, would love to see a game materialize.

I dont know man, dont turn your back on them rebels. if they can get over getting gassed in the second half they could challenge.

birdman44 Wrote:What, Elder's no good? They usually play a GCL power every year.

Do you want to truly compete with Trinity or not? Most see Trinity as being far superior to FTH. Elder is fine but why not Moeller and/or St. Xavier? To their credit, Trinity plays several GCL schools along with other regional powers from Indiana and Tennessee.
#26
They dont play a power every week, no. But they have played Elder, Moeller, St. X in the past and beatn and/or played close with each. Id like them to schedule more like 3 or 4 blockbuster games a year. I was disappointed with the 2013 schedule. If not Trinity or Moeller caliber why not Lou St. X, LaSalle?

I do not think most find T "far Superior" to Highlands; Better? Yes, but not far superior. If they played every year I guarentee T would not win every year. I think T would have a better winning %, but HHS would win a few here and there too.

I think last year they were far superior. Their 3 yr starter super freaks all just graduated together, i know T just reloads (like Highlands) but that was there best class ever. Highlands can hang with them most other years though. I think in the late 90s (96-00) H would have spanked them rocks, and did in 00.
