Fleming County Head coach resigns
#1
Coach Kelly announced to his team that he was leaving today. Someone will step into a ton of talent!
#2
Might see a mass exit of talent at Fleming if this is the case !!!!
#3
Whose names are being mentioned to fill coach Kelly's shoes? I know they had a couple of outstanding assistants with them over the summer.

Why did Kelly resign?

Guess this really isn't a rumor. Fleming County posted a job opening today for a PE teacher and also has to be the boy's basketball coach. Would like to know why the sudden resignation.

FLEMINGSBURG | Fleming County High School principal Mark Leet confirmed Monday afternoon that boys' basketball coach Brian Kelly has submitted his resignation, effective immediately.

"The rumor is true," Leet said. "Coach Kelly has submitted his resignation due to personal family reasons. He has returned to Franklin, Tenn., to pursue other opportunities. Coach Kelly is a father, son and husband and his family comes first. We wish him the best in his future endeavors and we have the utmost respect for him and his family."

Athletic director Blake Price said that Monday was a "pretty busy day" at the school after the position was posted.

"I'm sad to see him go," Price said about the coach. "I was pleased with the way he ran the program for the past three years, he was always very professional and the program has grown in the past three seasons. But I totally understand his decision, he has to do what is best for his family. We're going to put someone in the position that will continue to improve the program."

Kelly spoke to the Ledger Independent as he was driving to Tennessee on Monday evening.

"This was a tough decision for me," he said. "It wasn't anything that was planned but it just kinda popped up out of the blue. I wasn't looking for another job but I will be coaching a middle school where the principal is a good friend of mine but the main reason for the move is because my daughters needed me. We haven't been able to sell the house there and my wife and daughters are there and I need to be there because of family reasons. I have a daughter who is a nurse there, as well as another who is in the eighth grade and they needed their dad there with them."
