Simon Kenton 8 vs. Grant County 7 (32nd District)
#1
SIMON KENTON 8, GRANT COUNTY 7: Kennedy Baugh’s tie-breaking single to left field drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh, capping a come-from-behind victory for Simon Kenton, which is back in the district final for the first time in three years.

“It’s about time,” said Courtney Morgan, who tied the school career record for victories with her 57th.

Baugh, who went 4-for-4 with three doubles, is a seventh-grade catcher.

“She’s young but she’s a good hitter and a great athlete,” Pioneers coach Jeff Morgan said.

Courtney Morgan tied the score at 7 with a two-run double in the seventh. She drove in Erica Lange and Jamie Draud. Pinch-runner Anna Telesz scored the winning run, capping a three-run inning.

The Pioneers fell victim to the long ball early as Sierra Sydnor and losing pitcher Morgan McClure belted two-run shots. McClure’s homer in the fourth gave the Braves a 7-1 lead.http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...305210131/
