NWA/WCW Clash of Champions - DVD
#1
I'm looking forward to this DVD. I really enjoyed this special event. The NWA proceeded the special event television supershows by giving us a FREE PPV. The match-ups were pretty fantastic. Great memories.

Yeah, I'm a big DVD/Blu-Ray collector...so I'll definitely be picking it up.

If it has Sting and Flair on the front it can't be bad.

Does anyone remember the match in WCW where they unified the titles on Nitro?

Ditto with me as well

That's pretty cool. Noticed both of those were way back in the day when WCW was doing all the 60 minute matches. The old WCW matches were awesome. I watched a video of Slamboree from 1993 when I was about 12 years old and became a fan of how they wrestled back then. That was all-out wrestling and a lot of fun to watch. Really liked to see all those long matches with guys like Flair and Steamboat. They flat out laid it on the line.

"I Quit" Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship
`Nature Boy' Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk
Clash of the Champions IX - 15th November, 1989

These were two of my favorite wrestling matches of all-time.

Flair/Sting from Clash I was great because of the athleticism and wrestling skill displayed during a tense, best 2-of-3 falls match which ended up going to a judging panel. The "good" judge ruled for Sting, the "bad" one ruled for Flair, and the third scored it a draw. Thus, the match itself was a draw, and Flair retained his title. Still, the match elevated Sting to permanent main-event status, cementing his place as a WCW legend.

The Flair/Funk match was great just because of the sheer brutality involved. At the time, it was the first I Quit match I had ever seen, and these two knew how to put on a show. WCW had also done a great job setting this up earlier in the year, with Terry Funk "coming out of retirement" to piledrive Flair into a table and "break his neck". Going into the match, you wanted to see Flair get his revenge, and that's what we all got.
