Longtime Syracuse assistant coach Bernie Fine, fired last year after allegations of sexual molestation, has been hired as a consultant to Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Basketball Super League.
In a statement released by the team, Fine’s “will consult the Maccabi “Bazan” Haifa management on player personnel decisions as well as the team’s coaching search for next season.”
Fine was an assistant for 36 seasons at Syracuse before being fired in November after being under investigation by authorities following allegations he committed sexual abuse several years ago.
Fine has always said the allegations were false.
On Nov. 17, Bobby Davis and his stepbrother Michael Lang publicly accused Fine of sexually abusing them when they were team ball boys in the 1980s. Police can’t investigate those claims because they happened too long ago.
Zach Tomaselli also accused Fine of molesting him, then later said he made up the story and recently said he had been abused by Fine. Tomaselli reported to last week to serve a three-year, three-month sentence in a Maine prison in connection with his own sex abuse case. He pleaded guilty to molesting a boy when the victim was 13 and 14 years old.

Wonder how badly this has hurt SU recruiting? All the innuendo jokes a
potential SU recruit would face would have to convince a lot of them to
go elsewhere even if they really liked SU.

By te way, being a Syracues fan do you notice that SU has kind
of retired the term "overrated"? Seems like the only time Boheim's
really a threat to do much in the NCAA, is when nothing is expected.
When he has a highly ratd team, just go ahead and mark down the
2nd or 3rd round upset.
