Watkins takes over Oldham County girls

Matt Watkins has taken over as the girls’ basketball coach at Oldham County, replacing Stephen Mullins.

The Oldham Era reported that Mullins resigned after a verbal altercation with a player and a parent during a 74-70 victory over Waggener on Feb. 11.

Watkins, an associate principal and former athletic director at Oldham County, is 2-2 since replacing Mullins. The Lady Colonels (10-18) will face Owen County at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Eighth Region Tournament at Anderson County.

I think South Oldham will beat Walton-Verona in the finals. I thought South would be Anderson anyway.

Tonight's games have been cancelled. Semifinals will be tomorrow:

Simon Kenton vs. South Oldham - 2:00 PM
Owen County vs. Walton-Verona - 3:30 PM

The championship will be played at 3:00 PM on Sunday.
