Senior guard Jake Burger led Holy Cross on a 13-6 run to close out the game and help Holy Cross hold off Highlands for a 57-50 road victory. Burger led all scorers with 22 points.

Holy Cross (25-2), ranked No. 2 in the Enquirer’s Northern Kentucky area coaches’ poll, was able to win its 11th game in a row thanks to 11 points from senior guard Jerad Fortner, who was the only other player on the Indians’ roster to finish in double figures.
Senior center Patrick Towles scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half to help Highlands tie the score with four minutes left in the game after trailing 28-17 at halftime. Junior Luke Turner added 11 points for the Bluebirds, who fell to 7-15 on the season after enduring their fourth straight loss.

Holy Cross extended its winning streak to 11 games, beating Highlands, 57-50 on Tuesday despite playing without junior center Tony Campbell.

Campbell hit his head during Holy Cross’ win over Covington Catholic on Feb. 3.

The score was tied at 44 with four minutes remaining, but the Indians finished the game with a 13-6 run. Senior guards Jake Burger and Jarod Fortner scored five points each in the final frame for Holy Cross.

Burger finished with a games-best 22 points, and he added nine rebounds and four steals. Fortner rolled up 11 points.

Senior center Patrick Towles racked up a team-high 16 points for the Bluebirds, who outrebounded Holy Cross, 39-26.
