It's extremely difficult for a kicker/punter to get a full football scholarship right out of high school. Most colleges will give them a full ride after a year or 2 kicking at the collegiate level.

I'm pretty certain UK will take good care of Burgy-Vanhoose financially with academic money and awards.

I think he made a great choice. UK has had some great kicker's over the years and Zack will,I'm sure,be right there with them. Good luck Zack!!!

We really have had some good kickers and punters. Hopefully he will help us in replacing Tydlacka.

The kid put a couple of balls into or out the back of the endzone on kickoffs today during the Border Bowl game. Congrats and good luck to him! I was considerably impressed with his effort.

Best of luck Zack. Wishing you the best at U.K.

Spoke to Zacks coach and he said this was an option (walk on UK), however I here Zack is talking to several shools and is going to wait until the end of January to make a decision on what he can do or will need to do. Good luck Zack!

Hope he can stick it out all 4 years! I would like to see him do well at UK

Now wait a minute, I have seen this kid kick. The people at UK don't think he is worthy of a scholarship???? Wow... maybe that is why we don't win much.. lol. The kid is an incredible talent, I wish him thebest wherever he goes.

It is increbibly hard for a kicker to get a scholarship at that level. With two on scholarship already at UK there is no way they can give up a lineman or skill player for a kicker.

A member of the UK coaching staff was at Pikeville High School last week visiting with Burgy-Vanhoose. He is being pursued as a preferred walk-on. Let's remember that Burgy-Vanhoose grew up as a soccer player and has not played football that long. Working with kicking specialists on the collegiate level will elevate his game. He has an extremely strong leg that could earn him a scholarship at UK in a couple of years.
