Johnson Central 64, Betsy Layne 61
#1
Tough loss for the bobcats. JC was up 12 at one time through the 3rd and 4th quarter. Then Jr. put the spark off the bench and cut the lead down to three. Great game, officiating could have been a little better but I think it was bad on both sides. Hats off to the JC coaching staff, good game plan. I expect better from BL. They could have played better. 15 for BL needs to quit trying to sweet talk the officials and play the game.

Roberts got in foul trouble again due to a bad blocking foul called by a ref..if
He can stay out of foul trouble this BL team will be hard to beat..
#3
I agree, the Roberts kid is a player. I think the Meade kid forced way to many shots. Really impressed with Payton Case. The Newsome kid a point is getting better. I know he is a better shot than that.

Good win for the Golden Eagles.

[COLOR="Blue"]The sweet talker #15 Andrew Roberts was the best player on the floor for either team tonight! I agree he has got to find a way to be able to stay on the floor more (NOT FOUL).

Peyton Case' s defense on the point guard (Braxton #3) in the 3rd period really took JC out of rythm and alot BL to get back in the game.

Blocking out and lack physical play was what really done BL in.

Odd..... You usually put the winning team and score first in the thread title.

Stardust, give us some stats for this one????
-Thanks

It appears nothing was called in by Johnson Central

Tough loss for the Bobcats, but JC along with BL are at the top of the 15th Region. You will see a little more physical play from the Bobcats when Hamilton returns.

^That's who was missing. I couldn't figure it out last night to save my life.

Yeah, they will be a more physical team inside for sure when he returns.

BL had that game, there probably a 10 point better team then JC. it was a horrible called game...but on BL's court last year JC lost by 4 and this year on JC court BL lost by 3..but BL will get to play JC again before the seasons over.

How about the call when the refs thought it was a 1 and 1. When it was actually two shots. Was that played out the way it was supposed to be.
#15
Yes, it was a correctible error that was discovered after the foul on the other end. Before the Central player shot his free throws, they went to the Betsy Layne end and let the kid shoot the second free throw, thus correcting the error. Then they resumed play.
#16
The only problem was that they let central keep the free throws, and let the time stay off the clock.

Around 15 seconds came off the clock on that play..
#18
Why do you think it is that the spark that is coming off the bench isn't starting or at least get a little more playingtime.
#19
I agree, the Hamilton boy will be a big help to the Bobcats

Coach Newsome is a very competitive man. He will play to win every game. Maybe the ones who don't play as much as you think they should is not following orders or executing the game plan. Just a thought..To be so small they are playing above expectations. There is not many coaches that could be 9-2 with boys so small, so inexperienced and not playing together until this year. Keep up the good work.

Not only did you lose 15 seconds, but #15 also got charged with another foul and JC also got their free throws. All of which could or may not have happened had the refs appropriately gave Luster his second freethrow.

JC led the entire game and had a lead as much as 15. At what point did BL have this game?

I didn't understand that call. IMO, The foul and the play at the other end should have NEVER happened. Looks like they would have returned the time back to the clock and returned to where the mistake was made and continued from there. BUT, I'm not an official and I don't know the rule on that. Would be nice if someone could show us the ruling on that.

I agree!
That's what you would think? Hypothetically, if it was at the end of the game and there were, say 15 seconds on the clock, and JC comes down and hits a three to put them up by 1 with no time remaining. Then the refs realize their mistake. Do you go back let the BL player shoot his freethrow, he makes it, then call it a tie game and send it to overtime. Very confusing chain of events.

Or maybe it could be because he has a "closer connection" to some players that may be less talented then the ones coming off the bench. Newsome has always been one to play favorites going all the way back to when he had his children on the team. That being said he does prepare his teams very well. BL will bounce back from the loss. Both of these teams are amongst the best in the region.
