I know most of the EKY teams have been on offseason for quite a while now. How are things looking for the EKY teams? Anyone planning to make a run at state or region next year?

Assuming that your not being a troll and asking a serious question....
In 1A I expect Hazard and Pikeville to be in the mix of things. Williamsburg is my sleeper though. It wouldnt surprise me a bit if they were in Bowling Green come next December.
2A is 2A, unpredictable as hell and always surprising. Im not sure how much Leslie County returns, but what a turn around season for that program. I think Pburg get there heads back on straight next year though and takes back over. Somerset should be mentioned as well.
3A is where quality tradition rich programs from the mountains are. Bell, Belfry, and Breathitt will all be in the mix again and right now i think teams like Bell will look different.
For the first time in a long time i cant tell you who will be there star. Maybe Polley? One things for sure, there Bell and they'll be right back in the thick of things. Belfrys run was remarkable and if it want for a late 4th qtr td, they would be your defensing state champs.
I could be wrong, but i believe Breathitt return quite a bit as well.
In 4A look no further than Rock and Knox will be coming off good years but both lose some good players. For Rock, even though they lose Rowe, let remember this kid set out the end of the year and who knows how there playoffs could have changed with him. Knox loses Barger but from what i hear from our neighbors to the east, theres a lot of good talent coming up threw the ranks, and theyve finally got a decent feeder off the ground.
In 5A your pretty much talking about two districts, 7 and 8, if were talking strictly EKY. District 7 should be down, but i thought that about SW this year as well. Who knows who could come out of that district, from what i hear Pulaski County looks to be the frontrunner.
In district 8, its wide open IMO, Harlan County should be considered the favorite until someone beats them but i think Whitley is real close to being there as they return everyone except there o line. Perry and Letcher wont be as bad as some people are thinking as well.
Im sure i left A LOT of teams that should be in discussion, but its way to early to give a good estimate of whats going to happen. I do think EKY overall will be more evenly matched than it hass been in the past with a lot of the bigger programs being down.
One thing for sure, you can expect the unexpected when it comes to mountain football.

^ What are your thoughts on Ashland and JC in 4a?
And yeah, this is a serious thread.

Ashland surprised me this year.
I thought they played well at times, but couldnt win when it counted. But you have to think about who they got in the playoffs. That distrcit just wasnt on the same level as the Highlands/Cov Cath district
JC obviously loses there mr do everything Jude, and im not sure what they have coming back. Ashland beat them this year, but JC beat Belfry, who beat Ashland, so who knows.
I wouldnt count either out...

As a SWHS fan I know that next year's boys are anxious to get back in the mix again. After getting a taste of being near states they want it even more now. Coach Andy Stephens will probably have to do some adjusting as this year's team looks to be a little smaller but much faster and great hands. I think they will work hard on their passing game and using their 3 or 4 fast running backs for multi use offense attacks. On defense, they will need to work on their secondary which is where Anderson beat them in Semi State.
My opinion, as it sits now, is district winners and regional finalists.
