■ The "Rumble at Rupp" basketball games scheduled for Dec. 11 and Jan. 1 in Rupp Arena have been canceled. A Jan. 8 event, "originally set for Rupp, may be moved to another site, possibly the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park."
----
There's a new (April) NCAA rule that prevents outside companies (i.e. Bleid Sports in this case) from hosting hs events at college arenas. That's why the Thanksgiving event had to be moved to Lexington Christian and the Jan. 8 event may be moved to Alltech Arena/Horse Park.
FWIW, Alltech is a nice place. Doesn't seat 20,000, but a HS event outside the McD's All-American game or the KY boys' sweet 16 isn't going to fill Rupp anyway.
However, the LIT is still allowed to be held at Bellarmine (an NCAA member) because it is not ran by an outside for-profit company.
Basically, the NCAA got tired of these outside for-profit companies (some who have ties to certain boosters at certain schools) hosting events at big college arenas (even though they don't come remotely close to filling it) and bringing in certain programs/teams/recruits in exchange.

It's a shame the NCAA pulled this stunt. Kids deserve the chance to play at Rupp Arena.

I guarantee that if an event like this was held at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the NCAA would say nothing about it. haha

You got that RIGHT!. The NCAA is constantly coming up with UK
rules. Oh of course they say they are "for the athletes", but it's
easy to see that when UK can do something that other schools
can't, like the event in Rupp, or the Wildcat lodge in days gone
by, then the NCAA steps in to bring UK down to everyone
elses' level as much as possible.

No doubt! If UK is involved, expect the NCAA to step-in and try to wreak havoc.
