Coach: Latasha Peterson (first year).

Last season: 8-15, lost to Ballard 67-31 in 27th District semifinal.

Player to watch: At 6-2, junior forward Keaira Pennie is one of several sizable post players. “She can play guard or forward,” Peterson said. “She can pull out and shoot the jump shot as well as drive it to the hole.”

Other top players: G Jada Grady (5-6, Jr.); F Sabrina Jackson (6-2, Jr.); F Niya Anderson (5-10, Jr.); F Ashley Leach (6-3, Jr.); F Samuari Jones (5-9, Fr.); G Jenna Meredith (5-6, Jr.).

Outlook: Peterson replaces Willie Jackson, who stepped down after seven seasons. She inherits a team with plenty of size, as Pennie, Jackson and Leach are all at least 6-2. “If there’s a weakness, it’s just having to learn a new system with a different coach,” Peterson said.
