I am happy to announce that we will be having a BGR Basketball Pick'em Contest this year! I can't remember if we have had something like this before, but if so, it's been a while.
For those of you that have played the football contest the last few years, it will be run pretty much the same way. The scoring and the rules will be set up just like in football.
The only real difference will be the timing of the contest. In football, almost all the games are on Friday, with a few on Saturday. But basketball plays pretty much all week long. Since there may be some good matchups that aren't scheduled for the weekend, the weekly pick'em will include games from Tuesday all the way through Saturday. I will plan on posting the pick'em thread sometime on Fridays, and will be open up until Tuesday evening.
According to khsaa.org, the first games start the week after Thanksgiving, so be on the lookout for the first slate of games sometime over the holiday weekend! If you have any questions, send me or Strikeout King a holler.

If I'm not busy with anything on Saturdays or Sundays then that's when the scores will be posted of every week, If for some reason I am busy then it will either be late Saturday or Sunday Night!

If I'm not mistaken I believe there will be 16 total games a week, including a GOTW. Scoring will be the same as football, 1 Point for each correct pick and 3 Points for the GOTW and another 3 Points for the GOTW Score making the most points scored a week is 21.

Might I add - Where this is a sticky, can someone either PM to remind me or either make a thread each time a Pick Em' is released? I think I speak for everyone when I say this too because I can get on here for a week and not know or remember a new pick em' is going on... And then before you know it I am a week down.

On weeks you can't make it, I can send you the list of games on facebook and you can send me your picks and I can post your picks on BGR for you!

I was thinking about prizes for this kind of stuff and i was wondering....
Why not give the winner of a pick em contest a 3 month donating member trial.
For example, someone who is new to the site and plays this or maybe a person who donation time is about to run out, they could win an extra 3 months of donation member status and it wouldnt cost BGR a thing.
Also, for those of us who already are, we'll be there trying to win as well so it may not even matter which would be a win-win for BGR and spark intrest for users and make them want to win so that they get the privaleges of a donating member, such as a banner, bigger avatar, more private messages, and the all important signature.
What do you guys think?

I think you've said a mouthful but I agree - it would be fun to actually win something.

Sounds good to me. If you could just send a reminder on fbook or when the pick em's are up that'd work perfectly.
