Trinity's Troy Saxton To Alabama-Huntsville (#2 in DII)
#1
Trinity guard Troy Saxton (6'3", 175) has committed to the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He is the third player to commit to a college during the preseason on the Trinity roster. He joins Nathan Dieudonne (Boston University) and Charles Foster (Morehead State) on the list. Foster and Dieudonne made their intentions known earlier this fall.

The Chargers are a preseason favorite to win the Gulf South Conference after finishing the season 29-5 a year ago. They are the second ranked team in NCAA Division II entering the season behind Louisville's own Bellarmine University.

As a junior, Troy Saxton compiled 92 assists and just 51 turnovers as the starting point guard. He averaged 9.9 points per game and shot over nearly 45 percent from the field. A strong free throw shooter, Saxton hit 84.6 percent of his free throw attempts.

Saxton is the younger brother of 2005 graduates Bret Saxton and Kyle Saxton. The duo of Bret Saxton and Kyle Saxton were starters on the 2004 team that reached the state tournament for the first time in program history and helped the program ascended to the top ranking in the state of Kentucky in 2005 during a 29-4 season as seniors. Bret and Kyle played their college basketball at Georgetown College.

“Relax, all right? Don’t try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they’re fascist. Throw some ground balls – it’s more democratic.”
