Simon Kenton is looking for a new baseball coach after John Finn retired recently after 39 seasons, according to Simon Kenton athletic director Jeff Marksberry.

"He retired from teaching about four years ago," Marskberry wrote in an email. "He retired as head baseball coach on Aug. 12."

The 63-year-old Finn, who retired as a teacher at Simon Kenton four years ago, compiled a 564-491 record and coached his 1,000th game in the 2010 season opener. His teams also won 12 district titles, including the 32nd District each of the last two years, and advanced to the regional tournament 19 times. He also had over 60 players go on to play in college.

Simon Kenton athletic director Jeff Marksberry said via e-mail that the school is hoping to name a replacement by October and that applications and letters of interest are currently being accepted.

Enjoy the retirement coach you earned it

This has been rumored for the past 5 years. It had all but been announced that Norton would be named head-coach once Finn did retire. Finn met with Marksberry and recommended that Norton is the man for the job. It was quite interesting that Marksberry's reply was that Norton will be considered, but will have to apply like the rest of the potential candidates. Reading between the lines, SK will clean house and remove all remnants of Finn and his former staff.

or just look at the options availible
Open it up and see what you can get.
By the way legally I think Coach Marksberry has to say that 30 day posting and all

Retired???? Don't know about that. He took care of the field all summer as usual then retires when school starts? Dont think so. Going to be a good job for somebody to get. With all the SWOhio baseball players in that area, they will get some good kids. Ethan Stringer will be there next year. Kid is a stud player for Midland. He is one of many good kids moving up to SK.

Yes, it's not been made public (until now), but Norton got the job last week.

SWOL players have not been going to SK for the last several years and if Beechwood and CCH keep it up, SK will never get those players. Berger is the best player this team has had over the past two season. Granted, the loss of Lawrence hurt them last year, but this team is a long way off from being competitive in NKY. Maybe in the weakened 8th Region, but they are far from being competitive against NKY's 9th region teams.

Norton has his hands full

It was announced yesterday Troy Roberts is the new head baseball coach at Simon Kenton. He was the head coach at Scott High School.

Finn was fired for being an idiot! This was not a voluntary retirement. This joker told the construction crew to get the F^%& off of his field. Marksberry told him to get the F&*^ off or MY FIELD!
