Final. Absolutely amazing game in Carlisle last night. Nicholas took a 12-0 lead into the half and then, just when you think the momentum couldn't get any better for NC, senior running back Caleb Pope takes the opening second half kickoff to the house making it 18-0. Lewis County marched down the field on the next drive led by senior fullback Jonny Everman who had runs of 36, 13, and a four yard touchdown on the drive. Nicholas County's next drive stalled and Lewis gained the ball with momentum building. Lewis County quarterback Levi Clark hit a wide open JP Parker for a 64 yard strike making the score 18-12. Lewis gained the ball back and junior runningback Cory Christy broke a 67 yard run for a score and senior kicker Wes Barnett's PAT was good making the score 19-18 LC at the end of the third. Nicholas would score two unanswered TDs in the fourth making it 30-19 with a little over 5 minutes left when Clark and Parker would hook up again for a 48 yard touchdown. The 2 point conversion was dropped by junior Nick Ruark and the score remained 30-25 with 3:00 left. Barnett's onside kick was recovered by Nicholas County with 2:50 remaining. Nicholas gained a first down behind the hard running of Caleb Pope. Then, disaster struck Nicholas County as fullback Austin Allison was hit in the backfield by Parker who stripped the ball and took it all the way for the go ahead and ultimately game winning TD! Everman's 2 point conversion run was a success and the final score stood at 33-30. Absolutely classic!
