LexCath JV wins JV Derek Smith Shootout
#1
Lexington Catholic JV wins JV division of Derek Smith Shootout at Basketball Academy in Louisville today.

Perfect 6-0 with average margin of victory 25 points, wins over:

Friday pool play:

Louisville Male 86-43
Louisville Butler 71-59
Floyd Central (Ind.) 74-39

Saturday Tournament rounds:

Southwest Pulaski 81-50 Qtrs
Louisville Manual 66-51 Semis
Louisville Butler 82-67 Finals

We left with Varsity Final 4 playing semis, first half Bullitt East was leading LexCath and Moore was leading Jeffersontown, both games close. Moore, Bullitt East, and J-town all looking real good, as did Louisville Central, eliminated 57-54 by Bullitt East.

It's only JV and only summer ball, but I took selfish pleasure in this ‘cuz my son plays on LexCath, and in May he had a heart-breaking state tourney with his AAU team, his team made the finals but he couldn’t play, was on crutches from an ankle sprain in game the prior night. Everybody needs a little success now and then!

Overall the Derek Smith was a good event and was well run, Varsity division with 24 teams was cluttered with 3 or 4 teams that really couldn’t compete at this level.
