Derek Willis ranked No. 32 by Rivals

Bullitt East High School sophomore Derek Willis, who has committed to Purdue University, has made his first appearance in the national rankings.

The 6-foot-9 Willis is ranked as the No. 32 prospect nationally in the newest Class of 2013 rankings posted this afternoon by Rivals.com.

Willis is the only Kentucky high school players in the top 100.

There are six Indiana high school players ranked: Fort Wayne Harding’s V.J. Beachem is No. 42, Fort Wayne Northrop’s Bryson Scott is No. 45, Indianapolis Warren Central’s Devin Davis is No. 55, Mishawaka Marian’s Demetrius Jackson is No. 71, Cathedral’s Collin Hartman is No. 82 and Hamilton Southeastern’s Zak Irvin is No. 97.

Scott has committed to Purdue, while Hartman and Davis are committed to Indiana.

Fort Bend, Texas, guard Andrew Harrison is ranked No. 1 in the class, followed by Plano, Texas, forward Julius Randle, Bonifay, Fla., forward Chris Walker and Chicago forward Jabari Parker.

Harrison’s brother, Aaron, is ranked at No. 9.

He is a very nice player. He just needs a little more weight on him, but that will come with a college weight program.
