Either Bath County is a lot better than what was thought they'd be, or JC isn't as good as we thought. Bath was ranked 15th in the 16th region preseason.

Wow! Bath was ranked 15th in the preseason 16th region rankings. JC has to be embarrassed. Upset of the year so far.

Bath dominated the game, led 10-15 the whole night. Johnson Central made a run when Bath's point guard went out in the 3rd quarter with his 4th foul, they cut the lead to 1 in the 4th but Bath controlled the game from there on.
Point Guards for both teams were great last night. Carpenter had 22 & 8 assists for Bath while Skaggs had 29 with 7 threes for Johnson Central

JC didn't play well at all. They will be fine in the long run but was really exposed on several things. 1) Lack of defense effort. It doesn't take talent to play D. 2) It was obvious that they weren't ready to play. Focus is mental not physical. 3) It will take Parker to play more down low and not play outside for this team to really be good. Playing out in three land, creates bad rebounding and poor spacing etc.
Not to mention we had 38-17 fouls called that resulted in a very sloppy game. Our football guys are still playing without their timing and look like they are in football mode. JC dont get discouraged. Well be fine in the long run.
Not to take anything away from Bath they were ready and looked like they wanted it more. This was a great wake up to a very talented team. You cant come out and show up and not play hard and win against anyone.

As a spectator, Bath played zone and Johnson Central pressed the majority of the night could one reason for the foul difference. According to the boards, Johnson Central looked in mid-season form in their two scrimmages. I think this was a game of two really good teams who are both going to be tough outs for anyone come March.
Johnson Central was ini the double bonus both halves, so I am not really sure how only 17 fouls was called on Bath County

Yes i expect that JC will see lots of zone defense this year. They have to be more patient and create high lows for Parker and Bratten. Having Skaggs will be a key to beating zones. Wade really looked good last night. 1st game in a golden eagle uniform -29 points 5 assists 4 rebounds. I also thought we should have tried a zone against Bath. They were getting several layups. Stats said they shot 80% for the 1st half and 60% 2nd half. Lots of drive by layups...Hope they get it going tonight against a good South Floyd team.

Johnson Central gave up too many easy baskets last night. A little slow on the defensive end. They will be fine. Bath did end up shooting over 70% for the game so that tells you that they shot alot of easy baskets. Fouls for the game were 32-19. So, JC couldn't have been in the double bonus in both halfs. At one point in the first half, it was 17-6 in the foul department. Bath has a nice team, I think it was said they started 3 transfers last night. One from England, one from Clark Co. and one from Rowan County. The Dye kid from Bath is a player.

Bath County started two transfers, they have a foreign exchange who started and one who transferred from Winchester who started. None played at Rowan County or Clark County and I believe they have never even played KHSAA sports before is what one of the players on the team said, said that why they were struggling in scrimmages because they werent use to that style of play coming from a private christian school

I didn't know there was another school in Clark County. I had never heard of that one. It was good for Bath County. They are better than 15th place in the 16th region.
