Did McNamee Make The Right Move?
#1
What do you guys think? Did Chris McNamee make the right move by leaving Pikeville?

There was a lot of talk about why he was going to move--but did things turn out to be for the better?

I Think He Made A Bad Move. Im Sure His Opinion Is All That Metters To Him But.......
Pikeville Has Tradition, Always Will. They Will Always Be In The Hunt For A Regional Tittle Year In And Year Out.pcc Has A Long Way To Go.im Sure He Will Improve Them Over Time, But Itll Be A Long Time.pikeville Will Keep On Rolling, No Matter Who The Coach Is, Tradition Will Carry Them.its Like Goin From Newengland To Taking A Job At Detroit.coach Should Have Stayed.

It's all Mac's decision...I loved him when he was at Pikeville and hated to see him leave. Maybe he wanted a challenge and he thought that Central was the place to go :thumb: I'm sure that it is what he wanted or he wouldn't have made the decision.

Here is a question--is the pressure that much different? I know that Pikeville is a traditional power--but it wasn't like he was doing bad . . . . . Also, besides the pressure, are the expectations so high at Pikeville that he may have made the right decision?

I'm glad that he made the decision that he did. Mac is a good coach and a great guy. However I am very happy with Coach Jackson and his coaching staff and I am excited about the future of Panther football. I really believe that Mac can turn Pike Central into a winner if he stays there for a while. Pike Central has nice facilities and I would say there is enough athletic talent walking the halls of Pike Central that if Mac coaches them for a while they could be pretty good. I don't know what the current little league is like for the feeder schools of Central but that is where it starts and if I were Coach Mac I would make all possible improvements for the feeder programs....the same goes for East Ridge and Shelby Valley. With the new Pike County Central Middle School that is being built next to the high school up on Buckleys Creek(when is it supposed to be built?) Mac should have the chance to get in with the kids at a younger age and get them excited about Central football.

I am not trying to stir up trouble--but I still can't figure out why he left in the first place.

In line with that comment, I think that Pikeville has a great coach in place--and I think that their success will continue, and possibly get back to the level that it once was.

But Coach McNamee always impressed me as a coach who was going to get the job done . I would like to hope that he went to PCC for the challenge, as opposed to unrealistic expectations or something else.

Just remember that New England wasn't New England until Belichick showed up. I'm sure Coach Mac thinks/hopes he can pull off something like that.

A quality person who also happens to be a quality coach, WITH THE PROPER SUPPORT
from administration, staff, parents, and community can win anywhere!

I think he made the right move! He traded the Tradition someone else built for the one he'll build himself!

GO HAWKS!

Mac has been at Pike Central before and did not do anything then, so why would we think that he could now? Maybe it was because he has spent the last few years in the worst district in the state in all classes, and beat up the Phelps, Allen Central, Jenkins, Fleming Neon, and South Floyds of the world, and we thought he was greatest thing since sliced bread. Maybe he can buy out some more of the contracts and schedule Evangel and maybe even get Ky. school for the deaf and maybe David School will get a football team and he can play them.

Maybe the tradition at Pikeville wanted him to compete for a state championship or at least get there instead of just beating up the above poor schools.

Like his principal said he will play for a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. :wenumber1

I guess we will see, he does have support there unlike the last coach they had.
