I didn't say that is threatens damnation the quote is that "a womans hair is her glory"
The "ORB doctrine and association" meetings enterpted that in the manner we see today.
Jews damn you if you have a tatoo.
Now it all comes down to how you view it.
I have read most of the bible and the one thing that I will agree to more than any other is that you can read a passage 5 times and get 5 different meanings, that is where faith comes into play.
I Judge no man for how he views it, that is for a high power.

That is why there are different denominations of the church, people read and interpret the Bible differently so they start a following of people that believe it means the same thing and therefore we have 857 billion different churches and organizations preaching from the same book with all different messages.

One Sunday morning during service, a 2,000 member congregation was surprised to see two men enter, both covered from head to toe in black and carrying submachine guns.
One of the men proclaimed,
"Anyone willing to take a bullet for Christ remain where you are."
Immediately, the choir fled...
the deacons fled...
and most of the congregation fled....
Out of the 2,000 there only remained around 20.
The man who had spoken took off his hood...
He then looked at the preacher and said "Okay Pastor, I got rid of all the hypocrites... Now you may begin your service. Have a nice day!"
And the two men turned and walked out.
How lovely is this? It's almost sad how people just go to church and dont even know what they are truely going for, it's actually almost weird.
I was watching the movie Dogma last night, if you havent seen it, you need to - good movie, anyway, the guy said that people just go to church to satisfy them self, and not really know what they are going for - they are only going to make them self feel like they are useful and are getting a free ride into heaven.
And again, I was watching the TV and some women was being interviewed and said "the only time I get to balance my taxes and checkbook is at church".
Isnt that a nice thing to say, sad people dont even go to Church like they used to. They think just because they go into the house of God, every sunday, give up some time - they will be saved from the day of reckoning, and not be damned.
I said this once before, and I really can't say it enough - It doesnt matter if you go to Church or not, it only matters that you have faith. Doesnt have to be Christianity, Judaism, Buddism, whatever it may be, as long as your living life like you should, it doesnt matter your religion.
And people put to much focus on that, there is more people out in the world today who actually think religions are wrong, some may be, some might not be. But how will we ever know?
I'm not saying Jesus / God isnt a real person either, Jesus is areal person just like you and me, records even showed he existed, but that doesnt mean that God didnt distribute different religions for people to follow.
There is books / stories that is older than the bible its self, so how can we really know what is true?

Good post CC.
I stand behind my faith in life itself. I am Agnostic meaning that I am not declaring if there is or is not a God. Some higher power exists. Something somewhere created what we have but I'm not going to say that I put 100% of my belief into the Bible.
I am living my life the way that I want to live it and making my own decisions. If there are consequences for my actions here on Earth then I will suffer them I suppose. I am not breaking laws, committing murder, raping people, and beating children. There are far worse people alive than I so if I get cast into Hell with them because of my lack of faith then that is going against parts of the Bible as well.
I may not declare his existance but I am trying to live a rich, honest life. If Heaven exists and the only way to get there is by being saved and repenting and stuff, well I guess I am not going BUT if God loves all and I am a good person then if Heaven is out there then I should go...
It's hard to explain by views on it though I have really tried to put it into words. Like CC said, people go to church now for many reasons, most of which aren't the right ones. They go for self satisfaction so they can say that they went and convince themselves that they are going to have a great afterlife..Well sitting in a pulpit half asleep, fussing with your children, balancing your checkbook, or cleaning your nails defeats the purpose in going. Don't go to church just so you can say that you went, go to recieve the message and apply it to your life.
The world is full of hypocrites and I personally work hard everyday to stand true to my own beliefs. Good people go away from religion because of hypocrites. When people do illegal and immoral stuff 6 days out of the week, go to church and agree with everything the preacher says and try to make themselves look good then go right back out and continue doing what was wrong in the first place, there is no hope for that kind. Some go and see the life they are living is wrong and ask for forgiveness but most don't even want to stop.

Everybody wants to go to Heaven but no one wants to die.

Doc Holliday Wrote:Everybody wants to go to Heaven but no one wants to die.
I'm not trying to cause a ruckus, but some religons have a completely differnt view.(not mine) What about some of the extreme Muslem groups (9/11) that belive dieing in war is a ticket to a heaven full of virgins. It can bogle the mind at the different belief's. But I belive the lord Jesus Christ died for out sin's, and if we repent, and except him into our lives and are baptised, when our time is done in this world, we'll meet him in our eternal home, Heaven.

If you ask some people who truely have all of their faith in God then they aren't afraid of dieing.
Some religions are ludacris. Worshipping idols and graven images like statues and stuff is something that I never really understood and like TC said, some religions believe that by giving their own lives they were doing what their God really wanted.
