Tilghman QB - National Merit Semifinalist
#1
Paducah Tilghman High School senior Samuel Cox has been selected as a semifinalist in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Cox is one of 16,000 semifinalists selected from 1.2 million high school juniors who entered the program by taking the 2009 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.

"Sam works hard at everything he does, and his hard work pays off," said PT chemistry instructor Jeremy Krug. "What impresses me the most about Sam is that he's not satisfied with simply 'doing enough', he wants to be among the very best, and his hard work and dedication have propelled him to the top of the state in so many areas."

Awesome news, great to hear when a kid achieves anything due to hard work. Whether it's on the field or even more importantly in the classroom.

Very impressive. Being neither athletically or scholastically gifted, I'm completely jealous.
