Not the prettiest game but a beneficial game for the Jumpers--especially since their scrimmage was cut short due to heat last week. Somerset had too many penalties, missed tackles and some missed assignments on the offensive line. However, they played a bunch of different combinations the whole night and had several kids contribute. It was good to see Derrick Jackson look healthy coming off of knee surgery. He will be a load this season if he continues to improve. He was the team's leading rusher as a sophomore before missing almost the entire year last season. Tough game coming up next week against Southwestern--time to get to work.

Foresight isn't 20/20 . . .
Back in the winter of 2008, the Jumpers' former head coach signed the contract obligating SHS to this bowl game rotation for two years. Very difficult to extrapolate opponent quality that far in advance.
Last night, Coach Lucas and the Jumpers simply fulfilled the two-year commitment that NONE of them were responsible for making.
They won the game, got lots of players/combinations on film and left the field injury-free. What more could one expect?
