Even matchup through first half. Fatigue factor hit Whitley County in 4th quarter.
For LC Kyle Bolin shook off 2 picks in the first half to lead a number of drives and had 70 yard TD off of a designed QB draw early in the 2nd half. Adam Bush (#1) had a break through night and Nate Letton anchored a young defense that go burned a couple of times on play action.
Whitely played a strong 1st half. They ran a wing-T that keeps the defense guessing. If you get over aggressive (as the Knights did a few times) it can burn you for some yards. Mixing in some play-action allowed the Colonels to get some long, quick scores.

Lex Cath should be a strong contender this season

Whitley played tough football for three quarters. LC outscored Whitley something like 34-7 in the second half alone most of it coming in the fourth quarter.
If Whitley cant get anymore kids than what they had out Friday playing football there going to be in some trouble. I like the way Whitley played, but you cant expect to play 8-9 kids both ways for the majority of the game and expect to beat a Lex Cath. Had Whitley had some better number they could have run off with this game.
Hats off to Lex Cath though for coming back two straight years now late in the game against these Whitley teams.
Hopefully within the next couple of years Whitley can get the number a 5A team should have out which in my opinion should range from at least 70-80 players, 60 at the least, instead of dressing out 30 and playing 15.

Lexington Catholic ALWAYS has a well conditioned team and a lot of quality players and in a lot of games, like this one, it makes a big difference.

Lex Cath is like the dark side to me. I always root against them.

Whitley always plays well against Lex Cath the 1st half but than breaks down. Congrats LC.

What all does Whitley Co bring back from last years squad?

Not a lot. I would say they lost probably 15 starters off of last years team counting two way players. There QB this year is a senior but, has rode the bench for three years watching Lebanion play. They lost there entire offensive line. All new faces up front and only return one defensive lineman. They do return a hoss in Cody Bramlett, but he had a high ankle sprain against LC and didnt touch the ball, and thatwas there leading returning rusher from last years squad. Very young, but very tough, if they can stay away from injuries they should be alright and come away with about a 6-4 record or so.
