Johnson Central Coach Jim Matney Interview
#1
Kentucky High School GameNight had a chance to talk with Johnson Central Head Coach Jim Matney. In this 15-minute interview he talks about last season's start, his expectations for this year and his thoughts on realignment.

15 Minutes With Matney

Sounds like a class act. JC is fortunate to have him as their coach.
#3
I agree, he is a class act.
#4
I would love to have him at Bell Co if or when Dudley Hilton decides to retire.

Matney is one of the greatest people i have ever met. He is an inspiration to be around. He really cares about his players, school, and community. I have seen him help kids that didn't have any support at home. Kids that wouldn't even be able to participate in athletics if it wasn't for Matney.

Are you crazy. I wouldn't:please:

I think Bell County fans would want the man from Barbourville as their next coach, not Matney.

Which of following did you do? Watch live at Woodford County, listen to the entire game on radio or watch a video of the entire game?

The facts of the game speak for itself. From the facts, we see a coaches true colors shine through....Hope it was worth alienating another program for the sake of someones' own vainglory. However, JJ Jude should be very proud of his accomplishments. He seems like one of the best in the Commonwealth.

Lyle from Greenup had 353 Friday and didnt play the 4th qtr. He could have easily had 500 + in he would have been left in.

Don't want him either. It will take Bell County years to find someone when Coach Hilton retires.

I have not had the pleasure of meeting Jim Matney, but based upon your comments he sounds like a man with class, for one who helps those who can not otherwise participate in athletics is one that should be applauded. Men such as Mr. Matney are sorely needed in today's society.

Just watched the JC/Woodford game and I was embarrassed for JC. Coach Matney is a disgrace to high school football and his team. I think every playoff opponent should get the opportunity to watch a reply of this game to use it as a motivator. This was an embarrassment to the program and now I can see why there isn't much love for these folks in MTN Country. That game taught those kids to win at all costs and to strive for personal achievement at the expense of the team as well as relations with your opponent. That night was truly a sad night in Ky. high school football. JJ can have his record, which means nothing. Put up those numbers against Highlands and we'll give respect where it's due.....
