Best Defense in the Mountains?
#1
I think it is up in the air.. I hope breathitt bobcats???
#2
Bell County hands down.
#3
This is EASY..... Bell Co. They also haven't been beaten by a Mountain team since 2006.

Bell Co. has had one of the better defense's in the state for a few years. Someone correct if I am wrong but did they not lead the state in team defense in 07 and 08? In 08 they set the record for most shutouts in a season. Last years team was also very good with multiple shutouts.

I think Knox will also be very good on the defensive side of the ball in 2010. I would look for them and Bell to be 1 and 2. Hopefully KC can be the 1.

A couple???? I am not sure who that would be. :please:

Cuppett777 I have huge respect for the pirates but I hope you don't say them? We played/scrimaged Johnson Central the last 3 years so that is a no. Played Sheldon Clark so that is a no. Breathit has been down. Who does that leave?

I am no Bell fan by any means, but I do respect what they have done. There are lots of teams who won't play them. They have a difficult time scheduling because (facts are facts) no one likes getting their brains beaten out. The defense is huge part of that. They may have the best 11 in Eky, however Southwestern may have the best front four out there (not saying Bell does not have a good front 4, they do). Kudos to the teams who do voluntarily play Bell though; HC, JC, Sheldon Clark, etc....

i'll also go with Bell.

I watched Belfry and Johnson Central a few times in the past few years and they've had great rushing defenses. It seems like everyone on their defense is always good at rushing defense. However, I don't think they had great passing defenses. If a great passing team faced Belfry or Johnson Central, they could've given them trouble.

However, I've only watched both teams a few times.

like i said COULD,the pirates, and breahitt, expect for last year,Belfry defense was one of the best also in 08,but anyway, i hope there in the same class next year, will make for some great games,i have great respect for Bell,i am not on here to argue, just saying we really dont know, and would same the same thing about Belfry, just like in 06 when Russell came in a blank the pirates at home they had a great defense, but they lost in the finals to Mercer, so they as well may have beat bell that year..

We've played Bell the past century and without a doubt they are tops every year defensively. The best high school game I watched last year had the # one and two defense in the state and that was the BEll/Boyle game. There was some of the most unbelievable hits by both teams. In 2008 we played Highlands in the semi and Bell totally dominated us, Highlands struggled stopping us. If someone is saying that Breathitt could have give bell a LOSS that is a joke.
