I heard they were supposed to play the DS all stars today in charleston?
Anyone got a report on that game?
I know DS All Stars got a pretty competitive team, Jordan Gilbert is one of the best point guards in the state imo.

DSAS beat SSS-Davis by double digits in final.

How ironic, the new DSAS team beat last years DSAS team that moved over to the Shining Star Sports organization.
With the roster that SS-Davis has, I'm suprised they got beat by double digits.
Who is on the roster for the new DSAS team?

I was too till I found out SS-Davis had a 12 point lead at half and only had 6 players there for the finals, just ran out of gas the second half .

Somebody's math is wrong, I was told DS All Stars were up by 4 at half and
there were 7 shining stars there?
Another report I saw said Gilbert and Shotwell played big for DS all stars

This is the second or third tournament that SSS-Davis has "run out of gas". Why are they so short handed? I heard that a couple guys quit the team a couple of weeks ago. ie Shanklin and Fant. Is that true?
Sometimes it's hard to keep a group of all-stars together. On a team like this, no single kid gets to shoot 30-40 shots a game like they do in high school.

ok, here is the "inside' scoop
Davis had 7 players, Gaines had a sore knee all weekend and his play was limited somewhat but he did play in the final. Fucci and Kimbro are supposed to be at state tournament and Davis still has a very good team that will be a tough out at the KBA. Timmy Knipp and Stenzel can score on anyone.
But I don't think you can diminish the DS win on Sunday. That was their 6th game of the weekend and they had just as many reasons to run out of Gas as Shining Stars coming off a tough 1 point win over d-1 Greyhounds where
Shining Stars were coming off 30 point win in Semi's.
I also found out DS was winning at half time 32-28.
Bottom line, both teams are a force to be reckoned with with the DS All Stars getting the edge this time. Next time could be different.
But both teams will be getting a lot of exposure for their kids and should be
generating a lot of scholarship opportunities for their players.
That is the main point of the summer season to begin with.
Of course we all got a bias towards our favorite players, and I really like the way Gilbert runs a team

Has Kimbro enrolled in Jefferson County to attend Eastern? He attended Prep school the last 2 years. Wouldn't he have to play for the same school he left two years ago or go to his home school? I don't think Eastern is either of these schools.

Well, I was there. Actual score was 32-28 at half in favor of DS. DS never trailed in the second half although Shining Stars made a run to tie it at 51 all with about
3 minutes to go. DS all stars then handled the press and won going away 68-54. Both teams played hard and should have a great matchup at the KBA . Stars did have 7 players although Gaines playing time was limited with a sore knee. Timmy Knipp scored well for the stars while Jordan Gilbert and Tanner Shotwell had monster games for the DS All Stars. I'm sure Fucci and Kimbro will help the SS but if they are playing, then two other good players will not be on the floor, but it could go either way at the KBA.
Both teams are fun to watch and worth seeing.
Here is the roster for the DS All Stars
Jordan Gilbert Mason County
Ruben Bluford Mason County
Chad Mcdowell PRP
Deondre Mcwhorter Moore
Tanner Shotwell Scott County
Alex Webb Wyoming East
Deyonta Coleman Logan
Paul Williamson Logan
Jake Ison Elliot County
One thing the DS All Stars have going for them is their kids are used to winning. 6 of the 9 players on their team got to the semifinals or won their state tournament. Not too many aau teams have that kind of experience.
I have watched the kids on the SS team play a lot of games and they are very talented. Going to be some great matchups at the State AAU.

Is the above bolded players from WVa? Tell us something about them. Also thanks for the info. Having the extra players will allow the players to get some much needed breaks, as it is hard to play full speed with so many games in such a short period of time. I believe that is what happened to the SS-Davis team, just ran out of gas in the finals. Best of luck to both teams.

Yes, the other three players are from West Virginia, with Logan winning the state championship this year and Wyoming East making it to the semi-finals. Webb is a 6-5 wing who can shoot the three, Coleman is a guard who plays lock down defense and hits big baskets, and Williamson was the mvp of the tournament and does whatever it takes to win. His dad played at Marshall
and he is getting a lot of d-1 looks. He is a scorer.
On a side note, we played and won an extra game Friday night against the WVa Wildcats 16u team who won their age group in Charleston and the Pittsburgh Jamfest, giving us 6 games for the weekend. Everyone is tired by the championship game on Sunday, so you just have to reach down and find a way to win. I don't think the SS had a tough game before the championship, winning all of their games by double digits. Sometimes that can hurt you , don't know, but "running out of gas" happens to everyone after 5-6 games in a weekend, have to find a way to overcome it.
The two extra players SS will have at KBA will definitely be a factor, and SS will win a lot of games this year, although I don't think they will enjoy the success they had last year, But both teams have a lot of scholarship players and are high quality kids who are fun to watch.
Lets see what happens on the rematch

Every team in the tournament deals with this, that's just competitive AAU Basketball. Every coach knows this going into the tournaments. Especially the higher level tournaments outside of KY and Southern OH.
However, I am suprised that the SS-Davis team is 5-4 after two tournaments. Not a very good start. I'm sure they will start to gel after a few games under their belt.
