TidesHoss32s Division I College Football Realignment
#1
Well, Ive worked on it and its as good as its gonna get. Its not entirely perfect, but its darn close to it IMO. In this realignment, there are a couple of conferences dissolved, there are some conferences where the teams are completely different, some conferences dont change at all and there are no independents. Its all based on competition and the location of the Universities. Take a look and tell me what you think.

Post season formula for this would go:
There are 11 conferences. Each team will play 11 regular season games. Each conference MUST have a championship game. If there is a conference that is not broken up into two divisions, the top two teams would play for the automatic bid to the 16 team playoff (ex: Iowa wins the Big 10, and Ohio State finishes second, those two would play for the automatic bid). There would be 11 automatic bids and five at large bids. There would be a bowl system for those teams that did not make the playoffs, with 54 teams playing 27 bowls (there are 35 bowls scheduled next year).

Great stuff. I do have a question. How will they determine who gets the at large bid. Will it be something the NCAA will decide or will they take a areas to consider like the BCS rankings or strength of schedule?

No BCS..Much like the NCAA tournament in basketball, only a smaller scale. Factor in strength of schedule for ingredient numero uno, record, conference strength, and a minimun number of wins to make the field (say, for example, 8).......then you pile a bunch of teams together, put together a committee, and select five worthy teams. This way, everybody has a shot to win it..and seed it just like an NCAA tournament region (1/16 winner gets the 8/9 winner, and so on)..thats how Id do it.

It might look something like this..imagine if you will, the NCAA football playoffs..by the way, these are examples only..

seed/team/representative
1/Alabama (12-0) SEC champ VS.
16/Florida Atlantic (9-3) Sun Belt champ

8/Penn State (9-2) at large VS.
9/Pittsburgh (10-2) at large

5/Ohio St (11-1) Big 10 champ VS.
12/LSU (8-3) at large

4/Florida (11-1) at large VS.
13/BYU (10-2) MWC champ

6/USC (10-2) Pac 12 champ VS.
11/East Carolina (9-3) Eastern 12 champ

3/Virginia Tech (11-1) ACC champ VS.
14/Middle Tennessee (10-2) Conf USA champ

7/West Virginia (10-2) Big East champ VS.
10/Texas (9-3) at large

This could seriously work.

You could also make a case for Utah and BYU to be in a major conference. IMO they've proven more over the years than Fresno St.
