Freak's Bowl Predictions part 3
#1
I shouldn't research and study for a GEO test at the same time....

Today I'm covering....

The Alamo Bowl
The Emerald Bowl
The Holiday Bowl
The Music City Bowl
The Sun Bowl

The Alamo Bowl

Nebraska (7-4) vs. Michigan (7-4)

Nebraska (7-4, 4-4 Big XII)

Best Offensive Weapon:Cory Ross (197 rushes, 721 yards, 4 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon:Corey Mckeon (3 INT's)

Average PPG:24
Average PPG Against:20.3

Michigan (7-4, 5-3 Big Ten)

Best Offensive Weapon: Jason Avant (74 catches, 936 yards, 8 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Prescott Burgess (MLB, 1 INT)

Average PPG:28.8
Average PPG Against:19.2

Analysis

Michigan may be the best 7-4 team (Oklahoma may have an objection). There offensive is stacked, and the defense isn't as bad as advertised.

I'm not sold on Nebraska. The offensive has at times been anemic (7-6 win against Pitt), but the defense is pretty good.

Dont we all wish this game was played in 1997........

Mike Hart plays, Michigan Wins

Michigan 27
Nebraska 18

The Emerald Bowl

Georgia Tech (7-4) vs. Utah (6-5)

Georgia Tech (7-4, 5-3 ACC)

Best Offensive Weapon: Calvin Johnson (52 catches, 869 yards, 6 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Davan Laundry (4 INT's)

Average PPG:19.2
Average PPG Against:18.4

Utah (6-5, 4-4 Mountain West)

Best Offensive Weapon: Quentin Ganther (183 rushes, 1000 yards, 6 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Casey Evans (5 INT's)

Average PPG:29.2
Average PPG Against:25.3

Analysis

Utah had a magical run last year, but they simple aren't as good this year. Urban and Alex are missed....

Georgia Tech has the best offensive talent in the ACC IMO, and they averaged under 20 PPG. I think that's disgraceful.

You know what else is disgraceful, the fact that solid ACC teams GA Tech and Boston College (7 and 8 wins, respectibly), are going to Boise and San Fran, while the SEC gets 8! bowl tie-ins (filled 6).

Georgia Tech 27
Utah 14

The Holiday Bowl

Oregon (10-1) vs. Oklahoma (7-4)

Oregon (10-1, 7-1 Pac 10)

Best Offensive Weapon: Demetrius Williams (55 catches, 1032 yards, 10 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Aaron Gipson (7 INT's)

Average PPG:36.3
Average PPG Against:23.7

Oklahoma (7-4, 6-2 Big XII)

Best Offensive Weapon: Adrian Peterson (197 rushes, 1024 yards, 14 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Clint Ingram (4 INT's)

Average PPG:27.8
Average PPG Against:23.9

Analysis

Oregon is a BCS team, unfortantely for them ND and OSU got automatic slots in (ND was #6, OSU was #4, drawing an automatic selection).

Oklahoma may have played the hardest non-conference schedule. TCU went 10-1, Tulsa ended up winning C-USA, and UCLA went 9-2....

Every stat shows Oregon as the dominant team, however history shows that the top 10 team that goes to San Diego ends up losing, and Oklahoma has a ton of talent.

Peterson goes off, runs for over 250, and OU wins.

Oklahoma 38
Oregon 34

The Music City Bowl

Minnesota (7-4) vs. Virginia (6-5)

Minnesota (7-4, 4-4 Big Ten)

Best Offensive Weapon: Laurence Maroney (255 rushes, 1355 yards, 10 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: John Shelvin (1 INT)

Average PPG: 36.1
Average PPG Against: 28.5

Virginia (6-5, 3-5 ACC)

Best Offensive Weapon: Marques Hagans (188-311, 2134 passing Yards, 284 rushing yards, 15 total TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Marcus Hamilton (5 INT)

Average PPG: 26
Average PPG Against: 22.5

Analysis

Minnesota is a great rushing team. Maroney and Russell each had 1,000 yards, and combined they had 28 TD's rushing.

Virginia is a hot-cold team, and when they are cold, they are dog awful. The offensive is a hodge podge of athletes......

Minnesota big.

Minnesota 45
Virginia 17

The Sun Bowl

UCLA (9-2) vs. Northwestern (7-4)

UCLA (9-2, 6-2 Pac 10)

Best Offensive Weapon: Maurice Drew (900 yards rushing, 424 yards receiving, 16 total TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Spencer Havan (2 INT's)

Average PPG: 38.1
Average PPG Against: 33.8

Northwestern (7-4, 5-3 Big Ten)

Best Offensive Weapon: Tyrell Sutton (232 rushes, 1390 yards, 16 TD's)

Best Defensive Weapon: Marquice Cole (5 INT's)

Average PPG: 31.8
Average PPG Against: 32.4

Analysis

This will be a barn burner. If you like defense, watch another game.

UCLA is the better offensive team. Drew and Olson are right behind Leinart-Bush in my book.

Northwestern has a great offensive, but they let up more than they scored. A bad sign.

UCLA 51
Northwetern 41
