#1
Just said it on the post game show that hes 80% sure hes retiring.
#2
There is an 80% chance he will not return as head coach of the Wildcats next year...I don't have a link just yet because the news just broke here in Lexington during the postgame interview on LEX 18

i hope so cause he don't know what he's doing and Mitch Barnhardt didn't know what he was thinking when he hired Brooks.

This from KSR

"In case you hadn’t heard, Kentucky’s football team is looking to do a little streaking tonight in Nashville, as the Cats search for their fourth-straight bowl win. The subplot, though, is the growing feeling (among the media, at least) that Rich Brooks enters his final game as Kentucky head coach this evening.

The 68-year old Brooks, who has a contract that runs through the 2011 season, has been the subject of retirement rumors since offensive coordinator Joker Phillips was named as his successor just a few weeks after the second of the four consecutive bowl wins. Each time, Brooks has denied them and done so agressively. However, since the heartbreaking loss to Tennessee, Brooks seems a little more understated on the subject, offering simple vague responses and leaving even Joker Phillips and Mitch Barnhart to say publicaly that they’re uncertain of his plans. That uncertainty is what makes many wonder if this is the end of the Brooks era - or at least as close as he’s come to walking away.

Should Brooks make this his swan song (which based on definition means he wins), he leaves not as a great football coach or a memorable name in UK history, but as a legendary figure deserving of a place as face or figurehead of the Kentucky football program. Some might say that his 39-45 record as Kentucky head coach screams of mediocrity, but Brooks’ value to the Kentucky program is one that has gone beyond the numbers. Under his watch, Kentucky was able to rebound from the pits of probation and (gasp!) establish an actual identity as a college football program.

Kentucky football is no longer an easy win on any team’s schedule and no longer a temporary distraction from basketball off-season. NFL scouts now know that they can expect pro-ready and well-coached prospects and high school recruits and coaches know they can expect development at the college level. And, of course, there’s the bowl streak (and a striking resemblence to Lester Beisner). There are some schools that can take these types of things for granted because they happen so often. Kentucky is not one of those schools. Should Rich Brooks retire after tonight’s game, anything short of a post-retirement career in receiving public reverence would be a great disservice to a guy who has revered the blue and white through good times and bad times this decade.

And, of course, if it isn’t his final game, then I apologize to you personally, Coach Brooks. Don’t beat me down publicaly and let’s go for five!"

Brooks '80 percent' sure he's done

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Kentucky coach Rich Brooks says he told his Wildcats that he's probably not returning next season after a 21-13 loss to Clemson on Sunday night in the Music City Bowl.

Brooks announced at the postgame news conference that he is "80 percent" sure that he's not coming back. He plans to think about his next move, talk with his family and make a final decision within the week.

The 68-year-old coach finished his seventh season at Kentucky with a 7-6 record and 39-47 overall with the Wildcats.

Last January, Kentucky announced that offensive coordinator Joker Phillips will take over as head coach when Brooks steps down.

If he is in fact finished, he has ALL of my respect for the great job he has done in Lexington. If he is NOT finished, keep up the good work.

The bolded is up for debate and is a matter of opinion. The underlined is not even a respectable opinion. When Rich took the job, nobody with a respectable college resume even WANTED the job.

if he is gone then i hope it doesn't have any effect on our verbals but somewhere in the process of recruiting the recruits probably was told this was going to happen but some might have not thought this soon.

Strikeout King.... Ca't say I can agree with ya on this one buddy. Maybe focusing on basketball would be a better path for you and leave football discussion to other posters.

I want brooks to stay I love watchin him on the sidelines he brings a fire to the players that cannot be underestimated.

Has university given any indication if they want him to stay?Brooks said earlier they would talk at end of season.
I do think UK football has made great strides under Brooks and no recruiting or other scandals. With a couple breaks and less injuries they could have won a couple more games this year.

UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart, said he would like for Rich to stay and have one more shot at something special. He also said he's going to give Rich his time and that its Rich's team and he wants it to be Brooks decision.
