Elkhorn Middle School Tournament December 29-30

Does anyone know what teams will be in this tournament at Elkhorn Middle School in Frankfort December 29 and 30?

Last year, it was Shelby West, Elkhorn, Bondurant, Frankfort Christian, Frankfort Middle, Anderson County and Fleming County.

Im guessing this is a diffrent school then the Elkhorn in Pike County?

There are about 14 middle school teams that will be there, the list above is only a few that I know..

This was an excellent tournament with some top notch competition. Just got home after cheering Fleming Co. on to the 8th grade championship. There were some very good teams that didn't even make it out of pool play. Didn't watch all of the games but saw some great basketball. Fleming defeated Bondurant and Elkhorn in pool play. Elkhorn was very good, and I'm sure has won and will win many games. In the tourny portion Fleming Co. defeated Woodford Co. and LTMS (Lexington Traditional Magnet School) to win the championship. LTMS is very good as well! They defeated Shelby West to reach the finals, and Shelby West defeated Johnson Central earlier to win their pool. It was especially nice defeating LTMS as several of there players are former Central KY. Warriors (AAU) who used to routinely beat Fleming when they were younger on the AAU circuit. Anyone who watched this tourny had to move Fleming Co. guard Darion Burns up several notches on their best 8th grade players list. He was the best player on the floor in all of Fleming's games. Great tourny, and congrats Fleming!

Clay Co. and Mercer Co. were playing for the 7th grade championship when I left. Don't know the outcome.

Clay County beat Mercer County quite handily (48-29). That was an unusal circumstance. In pool play, Clay County lost to Beaumont by 2, Beaumont lost to Shelby West by 1 and Shelby West lost to Clay County by 12. Each wound up pool play at 1-1.

Clay County won the pool by virtue of the tie-breaker, which was points scored. Each played 2 games in the pool. Shelby West scored 86 points, Beaumont scored 90 points and Clay County scored 97 points.
