Has Miranda Davenport left Harlan City? If so they lose maybe the 1 of the best PG in the 13th (fr.-so.). I think she avg. around17 points per game. Maybe Mama Bear or some of Harlan Co. fan's can give me some info., because rumor is she enrolled in HC. If so this could be a big gain for HC who is already loaded that did not lose a starter from last year's team that lost in the 13th championship game to a very good Clay Co. team. Again this is heresay, but this is being said by more then 1 person.

According to KHSAA she is still on
the Harlan City roster. She did the same thing last year
flirted between Harlan County and Harlan.
She Should have went to Harlan County at that time and learned their system and bided her time for a starting position and would have if not for
the option and promise of more playing time at Harlan and with the Depth at Harlan county would have pushed her to be a better all around player.
All of her friends and lifelong teammates when cawood closed moved on to Harlan county. Now as it is if she does decide to transfer she will more than likely set out one full season. She is now a sophomore according to the roster even though she is the same age as of a junior. Either way whomever is counseling this young lady needs to cater to her feelings and have her best interest at heart. We wish You the very best of luck Miranda.

If She did make the move~ this will be an Win/Win situation.
the other players IMO will be forced step up their game to kep their p.t.(playing time) The Harlan County guards as it stands now from last season were the most Underacheived use of talent I Have ever witnessed. They are FAR better players than they shown last year.
a few seasons ago I was in awe of these then 8th grade Girls of Harlan county when i was transplanted by my job duties resided their briefly and with a friend whom daughters played locally i was treated to what i believed at that time to be the best all around players i had ever seen in the girls game.
They all competed locally out of Harlan county very own excellent Feeder middle school programs.
Here are the names- Kendra russell~ whitney gilliam from cumberland.
Jonnie parker from Black Mountain. Chelsea smith wallins Elementary and
Miranda davenport I believe from cawood. They were another from rosspoint
I apologize for not being able to remember her name she does so deserve mention here. But I most certainally remember I was Taken Back to see the first 3 girls poor shooting performances turned in for Harlan County Last season. and Pleasantly surprised to see Miranda doing Very well & Chelsea as well one of the leading scorers in the state. I would have Loved to see all of them continued playing for Harlan county and maybe we would have crowned a different 13th region champion. and who knows if all the pieces as it is of the puzzle fall in place they very well may still shall for the next few seasons.

Underachieved use of talent? That's a good one.
Harlan County made it to the REGIONAL finals last year and won 21 games. Do you have any idea how that compares to their performance as individual schools?
Cawood hadn't been to the regional finals since 1997. Cumberland hadn't been to the regional finals since 1987. Evarts had never been to the regional finals.
Just because junior high players do well against Green Hills or Wallins or Evarts doesn't mean they are ready to play with Clay County or South Laurel.

Wow, HC returns all their players from last year! If so, they will be hard to beat in the 13th region.

HC will be very good this year if teams allow them to dictate the tempo of the game. Last year when teams pushed the ball, HC had some difficulty due to the fact they have sooo many bigs that dont run the floor that well. Teams that have decent size and play up tempo will give them fits.

Letcher Central defeated Harlan County 63-52 this week..Harlan County has a good team, by the end of the season will be tough to handle..LCC did run the floor that caused problems for HCC, still good game for both teams...

Has Davenport for sure moved?
12-04-2009, 10:05 AM
She is definately not on Harlan Citys roster this year and from speaking with their coach, he confirmed she did go to Harlan County.
12-04-2009, 12:05 PM
She is not on Harlan Co. roster either.
12-04-2009, 06:16 PM
Is she eligable to play
12-06-2009, 11:12 PM
Why isnt she playing?
12-07-2009, 09:53 AM
According to sources from Harlan Ind. they didnt release her and she is sitting out this year. That is why she isnt being shown on Harlan Co. roster.
