56th District

Who do you think will win? Lee Co. won last year but they had 8 seniors and they only have two returning starters this year.

I really don't know! If Owsley played like they did last year you know they won't.

How did Lee's junior varsity do last year?
They didn't even bring a JV team in the game I saw.
#5
What game did you see? The only time they didn't bring a JV team was the Christmas tourney and the Harlan game. There JV didn't do very well because the players were more concerned about individual achievements. But, they had some really good players and the ones that are gonna be on varsity this year, Coach Wright will teach them the difference between team and individual.

Owsley looks alot better on paper this but good on paper doesn't always convert to good on the court.

Harlan County

Yeah, they only took varsity because it was like three hours away and Harlan only wanted to play a varsity game.

leecoukfan, do you think Lee County "looks good" on paper? Other than Pittman and Wise, what do the Bobcats have? Owsley has all 5 starters and the main 2 subs returning.

Thats pretty much what im sayin. You can't really make any predictions for the 56th district right now, because its a toss up. We really won't be able to tell until every team has played a few games in the season.

All i can say is paper dont mean Jack, when the tourney rolls around and if you want to over look teams that is fine but dont wine, when they out play you.

Lee County wasn't nearly as good as everyone expected last year. I think they were ranked fifth in the region in the preseason.

They went undefeated in the district which is all that matters. And they got an unfortunate first round matchup against Hazard in the regional tournament. They could have done better with the size and talent that we had but we had no bench. But, we won the games that we needed to. I think having to play Hazard in the first round wasn't fair because if you win your district you should be given the best chance to make it to the next round and IMO Hazard was the best team in the region last year.

I don't see how Lee deserved an easy first round game more than any of the other district winners. They probably underachieved more than anyone.

They all stood around and watched Aaron Charles play in the games I saw.
#15
He was by far the best player on the team and imo the best player in the region! But all the other starters were major contributors! The reason you probably sae Aaron Charles doing alot is because the majority of the plays that Coach Danny Wright had involved him! I'm not sure what games you went to but they went down low to Jared Pelphrey alot! Gus Wise was a big time contributor especially from the 3 point line!
