Tony Eury Jr has been fired
#31
I knew going in that it was gonna take Mcgrew and JR a while to mesh. It takes a awhile for any driver and crew chief, especially in the middle of the season, to get accustomed to each other. Mcgrew even said that himself when he took the job. If you look at it though JR has run better in the short time hes been with Mcgrew than he did under Tony jr. He got caught up in wrecks at Sonoma and Daytona that were none of his doing. Then he had a broken suspension at Pocono. Aside from those theve been in the top 15 every week. Isnt it ironic that the only folks on here complaining about how JR is running are the ones who dont root for JR? Dont worry guys theyll figure it out and it wont be long before hes running better and then you guys can accuse him of cheating. LOL!

Not me, I used to be a big JR fan, actually was more of a fan of his than any other driver. I like him now, but not as a driver. As a driver, I've not seen anything special out of him for the last 5 years. He seems complacent and willing to be a top 15 driver. I see none of the fire that his dad had to be the BEST. Now, that probably puts me in the majority of those who loved Jr. because of Sr. That's what makes it unfair I guess, because we all expected him to be as "great" as his father. I have come to the realization that he is not "great", but just an average driver. If you think that's knocking him, then you really didn't get the gist of my posts. I'm a fan, but don't think he's a great driver.

I guess Im different. I didnt automatically adopt JR as my driver after SR got killed(To this day its hard for me to type that). I always knew that JR wasnt going to be as good as his dad. It was extremely unfair of you or anyone else to expect that from him for one simple reason: There will never be a more natural talent get behind the wheel of a stock car as good as Dale Earnhardt SR. Kyle Busch couldnt carry his jock strap in a suit case. LOL! If Dale SR wouldve started his career at the same age as Kyle Busch or Jeff Gordon and in the same equipment they did no driver that has come after him would surpass him in any part of the record book. Petty would be the only one ahead of him in wins but IMO he wouldve won more titles than Petty. Anyone who expected JR or any other driver to win 77 races and 8 championships is downright foolish. Ill give you JR hasnt been himself since '04 and IMO his crash in that sports car at Sonoma that almost killed him has been a contributing factor to that. Ill also admit hes been distracted by his many off the track interests. Ive been told that hes sold alot of those interests so he can focus more on racing. Even Dale SR fell victim to this in the late '90s when he was trying to form his own team that his wife ran into the ground after he died. JR and Mcgrew WILL get things figured out youll see.
