On a last second shot in a game in which the KY Players led the majority of the game. You also have to realize that DS has pretty much the best sophomores in the state. (Fant, Shanklin, T. Knipp, Abell, Marks, Kates, etc.)
KY Players is led by the Holmes trio of R. Johnson, J. Johnson, and Pittman along with a few role players in Avery of Conner, Tucker of Newport, and a couple Cincy Woodward kids.

I don't think the Ky players can beat Shining Stars Mcfarland who have Jackson and Sewell

One question that I have always wanted to know is. WHO IS DEREK SMITH? The team Derek Smith All Stars. Is it that Derek Smith that played at Highlands or someone else?

You do realize that KY Players has Ricardo and Jeremiah Johnson who are just as good, if not better than those two...right?

The Holmes boys are good, but I don't think they have the bench to win it all

On the news it showed the DS 16u team, they are very good. Stenzel for GRC had something like 20+ last night.
DS 17u also won this morning. The Ice team was really struggling.

DS17u beat the Kentucky Players in a great game. 83-81 in overtime.
Madison Johnson and Elisha Justice had big games for ds17.
I heard DS 16u won it all and Mcfarland Shining Stars won it all in the 17u.

Not quite good enough, the KY Players got beat by Derek Smith in the first round of bracket play; and Derek Smith wasn't even the best team in the tournament. They lost to the KY Firebirds Friday night in pool play.
Justice beat them with a buzzer beater layup at the end of overtime.
Derek Smith got beat by the Central KY Storm Blue in the semi-finals.
The best two teams in the tournament were the Shining Stars McFarland and Central KY Storm Blue and they were in the same bracket.
The Shining Stars beat them in pool play and beat them in the finals to win the 17U state championship.

Not so sure DS All stars are not the best team in the state. They played most of the tournament with 7 players, had one key player suffer a concussion friday night and another one that didn't show up until Sunday due to prom. They got beat on a long three at the end of the game probally due to fatigue as much as anything.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them do better than any other state team in July. Elisha Justice is the best point guard in the state imo. And their front line is impressive.

After reading the Jody Demling's blog in the Courier Journal, looks like some of the Patriot players now play for the Shining Stars, the blog said that Chad Jackson, Josh Sewell and Austin Flannery played with the Shining Stars McFarland this weekend.

Patriots are no longer together.
Guyn plays with Indy Elite and Ohio Basketball Club.
Euton plays with Wisconsin Elite and Ohio Basketball Club.
Flannery, Jackson, Gabbard, and Sewell all play for Shining Stars-McFarland.

DS all stars vs Kentucky Players was the best game of the tournament!
But overall, one of the best state tournaments in years.
Would like to see the DS All Stars vs Mcfarland bunch
would be a very good game
