HALFTIME: HOLMES 45, LEXINGTON CATHOLIC 23: Red-hot shooting and a rip-and-run pace have carried Holmes to its big lead. The Bulldogs have hit 17 of 27 shots (63%), including 7 of 11 three-pointers. Ricardo Johnson has 11 points and 6 rebounds. Jamel Riley has 10 points. Jeremiah Johnson has 8 points and 6 rebounds. LexCath is 8-for-27 (30%). Taylor Botkin has 8 points for the Knights, freshman Jaylen Beckham has 7 points and Vee Sanford has only 4 points on 1-for-9 shooting.

LexCath is chipping away at Holmes’ big lead, which grew to 24 in the first half. Midway through the third quarter Lexington Catholic has trimmed the deficit to 48-32.

1:17 3Q, Holmes Coach David Henley is getting antsy as his team’s lead continues to dwindle. LexCath is within 50-37 after Tanner Peurach’s three-point play. The 6-7 junior has 9 points, all in this third quarter.

Holmes’ lead is 50-38 going into the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs got real sloppy, making 7 consecutive turnovers late in the third quarter. LexCath is making the comeback even though star Vee Sanford has only 6 points on 2-for-14 shooting. Freshman Jaylen Beckham leads LexCath with 11 points. Scott Schuette has 5 steals. Holmes is led by Ricardo Johnson’s 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Fair, but he is playing against a team of D1 athletes. It's easy to shut down one guy if he has no support. Holmes has concentrated on Vee
