Host Newport surprises No. 8 Campbell County
Junior Casey McDaniel scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Newport defeated visiting Campbell County, ranked No. 8 in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches' poll, 54-46.


Newport led 43-29 entering the fourth quarter, and the Camels never threatened in the final quarter.

Newport has won six of its last seven games, with its only loss over that span coming in the Ninth Region All 'A' Classic finals to Newport Central Catholic.

Senior Petey Albrecht led Campbell County with 14 points.
